WAN and LAN Connection Rates and ISP Speeds

WAN and LAN connection rate is rated up to 1000Mb. This is the connection rate between the ISP modem that support up to 1000Mb speeds on most current ISP services depending on ISP modem support. ISP Speeds over this, 1Gb and 2Gb speeds which some ISPs are now deploying recently which maybe business class service and or a Fiber system, 1 or 2 Gbps connections require a 10 Gbps link rate to function at their Max throughput speed. Using the 1000mb connection rated speed on D-Link routers will not achieve the 1Gb an 2Gb throughput speeds that users pay for. D-Link does not have any 10Gb supporting networking devices at this time, however may in the future. Users should disable any QoS features or use the AP mode feature and change from a router to a wired AP for best performance as mush as possible. To disable QoS, just remove any devices from the QoS priority assignment sections and this will not activate the QoS features or disable QoS check mark box on those old generation routers with the check box feature.

may identify/clarify the issue reported ages ago ? Where a DIR-655 on a cable connection delivered ~105Mbps from the WAN but the new DIR-880L consistently delivered circa 85Mbps from the same WAN source.

If so, (?? can anyone confirm or otherwise with facts not conjecture ??), does it effectively say that the 880L won't ever cope ... does it seem to read like confirmation of a router design limitation issue which will never be fixed and that the 100Mbps WAN throughput won't ever be achieved by the 880L (though the older 655 does) ??

The 880L should and I presume will. Depends on conditions and other factors.

Yes, I thought it should be OK (too 1,000Mbps is a lot greater than 100Mbps) but the wording did seem to suggest a possibility it can't handle sustained 1Gbps  ... otherwise what would cause DLINK to say this ?

I suppose it means that in addition to testing WAN throughput, I should cross-check it by belting the 880L's wired LAN throughput with large PC-ssd <-> PC-ssd file transfers and compare that to the same tests using the 655.    Unless you know of a link or two where test results similar to that are already published ?

After factory reset using default settings, no QoS changes:

My 880L is connected to my DIR-890L using it's DMZ so theres nothing on the 890L interfering with the 880L connected on it's WAN port.

The DIR-880L have a max throughput of about 800 Mbps.

No, not supposed to get 300 up, that's the way my DIR-880L is configured and I don't know how that happened but it's working fine so I'll leave it as is. 

I have cable thru Time Warner via an Arris SB6183 modem (which I bought at Best Buy).  No configuration of the modem on my part everything was "self installed" and plug and play.

Ok, got it. Glad it's working well. There is a couple of known issues in FW and D-Link is aware of them. I presume and hope they will be fixed in the next release. Please be patient.
