Noise in night mode SOLVED!
« on: January 15, 2013, 11:08:42 AM »

Due to bad design, the reason for the noise is missing filtering in both the 930L and the 932L.
Solution is given here, but any warranty or guarantee from Dlink will be bye bye if You open Your camera.
The fix involves soldering on components less than 1x2 millimeters in size. Please dont do this if You are the least bit unsure how to.
I take NO responsibility for what other might do with this info. You do it entirely on Your own risk!

When that is said, here is the info descibing the hack;
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=52053.30

Good luck!

M :)

This fix seems to work great.  However, I was wondering if all of these cameras exhibit the noise and horizontal lines in low light conditions? The camera I purchased appears to be dated stock as it only had the original v1 forward installed on it.  It has the noise problem, do the newer releases  exhibit the same amount of noise?

Thank you, I did see that thread, I was just looking for confirmation that this is a problem on all the 932L cameras.  The reason I asked was that I purchased my camera a week ago and it only had the 1.01 firmware installed. So I wasn't sure if what I had purchased was old stock and perhaps old hardware that has since been updated. I am therefore going to presume that this issue persists on all 932L cameras (new stock, old stock etc) but can be resolved by installing a capacitor.

I have several of the 932L and 930L, from a couple of years old to pretty new, (a month now), they all have the same (solvable) problem with noise. So pick up Your soldering iron and fix the defect product You just bought, or buy a working camera of another brand for three times the price  :D :D  :D :D  :D

the pictures only show the before/after results of the video feed.

They don't show where or what to solder. Those pictures are missing now, link broken.

I actually figured it out, fixed my camera.

Because the steps in this thread aren't totally clear and a lot of pictures are missing, I made a YouTube video for anyone that wants to do this fix. Maybe a mod can put my video in the sticky?
