Hi,

Am I right in thinking that nothing changed regarding the Wifi in 1.02 firmware, in the release notes it just mentions IP reservation, however when I am running this firmware my 5Ghz wifi seems worse, I get buffering that does not happen on 1.01. I make sure that I factory reset before and after and I am inputting the same settings but this seems repeatable for me so i'm not sure whats happening?

As far as I can tell, they upgraded the 5Ghz output for the NA region FW. I don't know if the same applies to the EU or WW region FWs.

Thanks for the info, I double checked and it did change the Wifi after looking on the release notes, I was having trouble in some games that I was trying to play on a wired connection and also like I say the Wifi was buffering out of no where. Anyway I have gone back one and all good again now.

I just got off the line with DLINK support and they informed me that there is no way to see the logs within the web interface. Also I send the logs to a syslog server now but there is very little there compared to older models. It only basically informs of DHCP leases, time syncs, etc. Not much use.

IS there an official avenue to request feature sets within firmware?

ps.. did this thread get hijacked for Apple discussion :)

There are many things missing in this new UI compared to the old UI like the built in log setting and display, without the use of syslog.  Will these be restored in the next firmware.  I hope that the DHCP IP reserve list (even offline IP address) would also be restored.  Thanks

We don't know if any features will be added or not in the next FW release. D-Link is aware of the Reserved IP address for off-line device problem and we hope it will be addressed in the next FW release. For any requested features, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. It helps to let them know about features you desire to have. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Let me rephrase on log view and setting.  Since most of your routers have these and for DIR-880L, this feature was removed.  Sorry for being ignoramus but how can I view the syslog if I directed it on my NAS DNS-320L?  Will the viewer feature of NAS display it?  No other setting to view those like in the old routers?

I don't have any experience with that model DNS. I presume if that model DNS has syslog capturing features then it could capture syslogs from routers. For those routers that supported syslogging, you would enable the feature and point it to the IP address of your DNS. You'll need to refer to the user manual or the DNS-320L forum for further help and information.

Most logging is application based and installed on a PC. The application will capture and display the contents of the log data.

Thanks for the response on syslog's application activity tracking.  But older routes have monitoring on router's connectivity tracking like LAN terminal's log info, DOS attacks, wireless and other services change of status, non volatile memory update and others.  Is this log function available in DIR-880L?

I've already checked it out but sending ACK to IP address, server request from MAC address, etc. are too cyrptic. Wireless service up nor change in configuration seems not posted.  Anyway, syslog can be only be viewed using NAS log viewer but old router keeps the copy to itself which can be viewed by itself.  Something that I'm looking for instead of dumping these data to other device and don't know how to view without going outside the router's WebUI.

There maybe other PC software based apps that can view syslogs. You should contact D-Link and ask them what they recommend using to collect and view syslogs.

Good Luck.
