Title: Dir-842 not getting Gigabit speeds
Post by: Marzorod on May 01, 2019, 01:32:59 PM
Hi guys, new on the forum so Greetings to everybody.I have a Dir-842 that when I set it up the first time it gave me 145 mbps from the 150 mbps I get from Comcast. My modem is an Arris 6190.After 3 days it stopped reaching those speeds I get  now 85 to 90 mbps. When I hook my modem directly to my computer I get the whole 150 mbps and I also get a different IP address, the one I used to have when I rented Comcast Modem. Is there any material I can read or can anybody point me in a direction that might help me solve this. Thanks in advance

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Have you enabled any QoS settings? Disable these if you have before speed testing.
Disable all background running apps on your test PC temporarily.
How are you testing the speed? Web page or Ooklas speed testing app?
Whats all connected to the router? Wired and wireless devices.
When speed testing is other data streams going on from other devices?

FYI about your ISP modem:

FurryNutz,I got back just to thank you for the literature and help you provided me with.It was something simple. It seems I had my modem connected to a cable that somehow was  not communicating properly.I just connected my modem to a shorter connection with the Comcast feed and all is Kosher now. Thanks for the help.Keep it up guys.
