Anyway, except FW DFL needs license file. If your CF broken and even you find FW and save it, you will need license (it's unique for each device).
So, better way - go to service...

hi,

thx for your answer but the thing is that this system already have passed the suport period and it would be something really bad to lose all this invesment.

is not anything that can be done to load the licence againg or for the sake of undertanding a little bit more the architecture of this firewalls and dont lose the hardware completly.

please help.

regards.

Hi,

can any one make a dd image of the CF card in a dfl-860.

dd can be downloaded for windows and make a copy with the command dd if=\\.\(drive): of=dfl860.img

and send me the image file or under linux is the same thing.

may be in this way a can get the basic files on my CF and i would get the firewall to load something.

any help would be apreciated.

Doing that would be a good way of guaranteeing you can't recover the CF.

An direct binary image of the CF would give you their licence file and wipe yours if it is still accessible.  If you mount the CF card do you have a licence file listed (it is clear text and crpto signed I do believe)?  If so we can provide the other files on the card, but without that signed licence file you are sunk.

Hi fatman,

i have not been able to mount the CF because i don`t know what file system it is. but i have nos done any thing to the CF card so if you can send me the other files i think i can be able to recover the firewall.

is there another way dlink can regenerate the licence files en send then over to me if that is bad.

thank you for all the answers.

regards.

I don't have any way of generating a licence file, if I could do as much I would have a bit of mad scientist fun around here.

It is a FAT32 file system if I recall...

Hi all,

i just want to ask if one can request the license to dlink See we can regenerate the file system of the firewall. another question i have is that if one can regenerate the file system from a image upgrade from the dlink web site because the last thing i saw int the firewall was some licence problem saying that the system was going to shut down in 8 hour for some licence problem.

so may be that was what happend the licence files got corrupted and the system shutdown it self.

if there is a way of regenerating the licence or using another one from other box.

is there any help it will be appreciated.

regards.

No, we don't have any way of generating a licence file without RMA'ing the unit.

Hello all,

the CF of my DFL 860 crashed. I have a copy of all files (including LICENSE.LIC).
I bought a new 128MB CF, formated FAT16 and copied back all Files.

Boot still fails with message "Can't load 'hda1:FWLOADER.CFX': Bad filename"

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!
