Hello, First time poster here.

   I would like to see Mac addresses added to inbound filtering.  I'm using port forwarding with inbound filtering to keep ports showing closed from the wan side except from the IP set inside inbound filtering. Issue is,  I'm using a cell phone and tablet to access my server and using the D-Link IOS app's and Android app's and my IP changes often with a cell phone. Not sure if there is another way to fix this but having mac addresses inside the inbound bound filters would solve the issue.

Request: I would like to be able to assign mac addresses inside inbound filter.

Have you tried using Virtual Server instead of PF?

Feature Request: Ability to assign MAC address to inbound filtering.
Hardware: DIR-868L
Hardware version: A1
Firmware version: 1.07
Region: US

Virtual server would not work for what I'm wanting to do.

I need to forward a group of ports and would like to keep them appearing closed to the WAN side and only open to a certain IP/Mac address. 

Inbound filtering is design to do just that with port forwarding. ( To my knowledge )

But inbound filtering will only allow IP addresses and not mac addresses to be assigned.   

My IP on my cell phone changes many times and this makes inbound filtering useless ( To my knowledge ) for my situation.

Having the ability to assign MAC address added to inbound filtering would solve this issue. 

I would think more people using D-Link apps with cell phones or tablets would run into this scenario.

You may want to phone contact D-Link support to see if this scenario is supported or not.

Most users using apps are accessing the router from the LAN to WAN and services on the WAN side. Not a lot of users may be doing the opposite like you are. If they are, I presume they are just using D-Links Shareport and mydlink apps that don't need any sort of PF'g.

  I emailed D-Link days ago and still waiting for a answer. 
I thought this was a area where we could request features. Oops. 
I know the ability to add Mac addresses inside inbound filtering isn't supported but would like to have it added as a feature in the near future.

We here in the forums always recommend phone contact tech support for a more quicker and more immediate response.

I've also asked D-Link to review this as well. I'll post back if I get response.

Just heard back from D-Link, Figure I would share the feedback I received.


Here is their Reply:

Products: DIR-868L

Thank you for contacting us, current desing does not allow the use of a MAC address at this time. There may be the possibility of incorparating new features to the production firmware of our DIR-868L in the future.  We will pass your request to our Product Managers and Engeneering departments for considaration to the suggested feature. If accepted, it make take some time before is implemented as an enhancement. There is also a chance that due to hardware limitation certain features may not be consider for emplementation on the current product, but may be added to future release products.
