Title: Beta Firmware 1.33b01NA Feedback
Post by: davevt31 on January 15, 2010, 04:17:57 PM
Installed over the beta 09 from November.  Did not have to restore config file, all the settings were saved after the update.

Hard to provide feedback when I do not know what was changed or fixed.

At least I did not find any optical or feature changes.

But all basic functions as schedules, webfilter, DynDNS are working flawlessly.

I'm running it without Advanced DNS but DNS-Relay enabled.

Edit: typo

Would someone please tell us what's fixed so we can properly decide if we want to try the beta code or not?

Can't trust D-link too much these days.

That's lame. The Eropean firmware had a changelog. Have you checked so that there isn't a file in the download?

Maybe it's not the same but here's what's new in the EU beta released today.

It is not the same as the EU firmware is dated: 2010/01/14 - with HNAP security patch.
1.33NA is dated: 2009/12/22 what is before HNAP problem was made public.
NA firmware could be more compared with the previous 1.31b01 from the change log.

EU code seems newer, but Shareport version is different (newer on NA version).

I live in Europe, but I think I'll stick with NA version for now, besides the security flaw.

I just flashed to 1.33b01NA on 2 DIR-655 A2 devices (one works as router, the other as switch+AP), and so far they are working ok.

i tried to go back to the eu firmware but it isn't possible, and wireless signal is still worse. even with 3 10DBI antennes on it

Virtual server is not working. Everythome you fill it in en choose reboot, the otion is empty again. I have reset my router to defaults and fill everything again in and the problems still exist. Somethimes dns relay is on when i reboot my router. Annyone else heave this problem with an A2 router?

No, my A2 is working fine.
I have set different virtual servers and portforwardings.

You use Internet explorer for the settings ? It works best.
I had issues with FF.

Normally IE8 works fine but have a look at the status bar at the bottom whether your router's ip is recognized as local intranet.
If it is internet, your browser might deny to run the scripts in the WEB UI.

You may also try to add the IP to the trusted sites.

I just did the 1.32NAbeta09 -> 1.33NAbeta01 and also noticed that you didn't have to reset the router to the factory configuration; all settings were saved.

I did the reset anyway, just to follow the forum instructions and see whether I could upload the 1.32NAbeta09 configuration file.  That feature did not work and I had to enter in all previous information from scratch.  No biggie; I've had to do that in the past.

So far, everything else works, although it's only been 10 minutes.  If I find something broken, I'll report back.

i reset the router for the 3rd time. first by software and then by the hardware button, now its working again. Dlink can you try to reproduce this problem. i Hope that Dlink will fix the worse wireless link in this firmware very soon otherwhise i send it back to dlink and by an Saneo or other product with a good wireless link. even other antennes on the dir655 doesn't help. And let us choose if we want to disable the Good neighbour function.

Shareport still not working.  Works with my Seagate Free Agent Drive for 1 day.  Then the router needs to be rebooted to connect.  Same problem as before.

Loaded today from 1.32NA b09....lost my settings....loading my gateway_settings.gws didīnt work either...manually configured...no probs...working fine...and shareport have worked now for 3 hours...the odd thing is, that the throughput to my DAP-1522 (Bridge-mode) has slowed down...from around 5 mbit to 3 mbit (moving large files 3 to 5 GB (movies))
Running WPA, AES.....mixed .11g and .11n..no other fancy stuff.....so far so god

I too was unable to load the gateway_settings.gws after trying the beta code. I received an error message when I tried uploading the saved settings. I was also unable to get one of my Win7 computers to make a wireless connection. When I reloaded the previous verions, everything worked fine.

I was successful in updating the Firmware, but still getting Massive Errors on Wireless, Like 13,000 errors in a Hour.  The Lan side has no errors at all, let the Saga Continue.  This is such a Joke, Once I can Afford to get a new Router I will never buy another Dlink Product again, and Let everyone I know not to buy any of Dlinks products in the Future.  This has gone on way to long without them fixing a KNOWN issue.  Good Luck DLINK, Your CS Sucks.

Up for over 24 hours yet. The only wireless drops that I have seen thus far have been when my MAC goes into deep sleep mode. When I wake it up, I see the log entry where it logs itself back in. The only other funky thing I have seen thus far is Vonage trying to send a UDP packet that the router blocks. My Vonage phone does work flawlessly so I won't worry about it.

Some feedback from NL.
Did flash to the NA beta during the holidays but still the router was rebooting. Had a max uptime of almost one day during the holidays.

Upgraded to the 1.33 beta yesterday. Until now 21 hours+ uptime.

No securespot active. Otherwise a blank router setting so far.
Not yet connected wireless and did not do any p2p yet.

Looking good so far :)

Using A4 hw.

Great stuff.....have been running since the 18th with 1.33b01NA without any kind of problems...and no reboots - unforced or forced

Using wired:
 - 1 Iomega Home Media Storage (to store pics/videos from DCS-1130)
 - 2 high-end gaming computers
Using wireless:
 - 1 laptop with DWA-160
 - 1 DCS-1130 camera
 - 1 DAP-1522 (connected to a Dreambox 800 with HDD)
 - 1 Nintendo Wii

Only minus I have discovered so far is a bit slower transfer rates from/to the connected device on the DAP-1522.....but that is minor in my opinion ... the main thing now is stability...and this FW is the best since 1.21 - for me anyways (btw...I live in Denmark)

This router had running smooth since I updated to beta 1.32beta09. However, I wish dlink can do something about the weak signal on the wireless. Right now, I have a pc equipped with dwa-552 but only connected to dir-655 @62-75 signal. The dir-655 and dwa-552 is only going through one wall (thin wall) and it is only like 10 feet in distance. This dir-655 wireless performance is garbage and I wish I should of not listen thoes stupid blog about how dir-655 is one of the best. It performance worse than the asus rt-n13u which is only half the price and my old dir-625 perform even better than dir-655.

I cannot downgrade with 1.33. You will need a NON-Dlink customized version. I do not recommend this since you will be exposed to possible malicious coding (it's NON-DLINK and possibly even illegal to do so, the firmwarecode is not Open source or GPL).

The firmware is from the dlinkru website, and very legal to do!!!!

No, is not. The one on D-Link Russia website doesn't work on routers with the 1.3x NA firmware.

Unless the firmware is open source then it is not legal to modify it or even post it outside of the official D-Link sites without their permission.

Just like videos that get taken down from Youtube as the people did not have permission to post it as it violated copyright laws.

Which still constitutes license infringement if you haven't paid Ubicom to use them.
The firmware offered is not original Dlink.
