Hello how do i set my 868L so both the 4ghz and 5ghz channel runs
simultaneously? Meaning using 4ghz for everday surfing and the 5ghz
channel for streaming and so on?

Hi,
Unless you changed something in the setup, there is a little sticker on the side of the router that has the default settings to connect to the wifi bands, ie, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz, they are normally enabled by default. If you are new as your post indicates, you really need to making sure the encription is also enabled. You should be able to use the "Wizard" to help you set things up, again assuming you have not already changed the settings. Try to do as much reading as possible and just spend some time going through all the tabs in the GUI for the router, enter 192.168.0.1 into your browser and hit enter. If no changes have been done leave the password blank and hit enter. That should get you going. Good luck
-
You can connect your 2.4Ghz devices to the 2.4Ghz SSID name and your 5Ghz devices to the 5Ghz SSID name.

FurryNutz, i allready done that setting up both channels
with two different ssid's? But my wife can't seem to get
the 5ghz channel working with her macbook air who has
the new AC adapter?
She often has to log on the 4ghz channel because it
want,s the correct ssid login now an then. Maybe i should
just go with the standard ssids on the label and see if
that will work instead?
Thanks for reply

- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
What modes are you using on the 5Ghz radio Mixed ? Try single mode N first to see if the Air will connect.
How are the SSIDs configured? Try using simple naming conventions with out any special characters to test first. Try using jango for the 2.4Ghz SSID and jango 5Ghz for the 5Ghz SSID. Adding the 5Ghz to the SSID helps to identify whats what.
My devices connect to the 5Ghz radio using Mixed ALL modes, Auto Scan, Auto 20/40/80Mhz using WPA2/AES only.
Be sure to clear out any previously used profiles on the Air then test again.
BTW there is only 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz on these routers...no 4Ghz. ::)

Wireless network name: dlink1750
802.11 Mode: 802.11n only

Hi again how do i keep my 868L from logging out after
only a minute?
-
One more annoying thing, my 868L keeps logging off
and i have to login after 1 minute??
Can i some how disable it so it stays on? No.
-
Anyone?? Is it possible to make the 868L stays logged
on so i can configure the settings before it's logging off?
-
There isn't any way to disable the auto log off. Usually 3 minutes before it logs off.
Please use the Save Settings and Reboot Later function...
-
Hi ok i'll save the settings and reboot later :)
Under Tools or??
-
After you Select Save Setting, I believe there should be a Reboot Now or Reboot later buttons that appear...Select the Reboot Later button...
-
Ok, thank's :D
-
Let us know how it all goes. Once you get it all set up, you'll enjoy it. It's a great router. I love mine.
-
Hi now i made the change and i'll get back soon
with response ;D
One more thing, how come i can't see both channels
2.4 and 5GHz on my iphone and other apple products
when i connect to my wifi? I now named them jango
and jango-5GHz?
In other words can i pick which channel i wan't to
connect to?
-
Or can i use the same pre shared key for both channels?
-
Which iPhone do you have? Most iPhone don't support 5Ghz.
Once you have the SSID names set up, yes you can pick which radio SSID to connect to, depending if the device supports 5ghz or not.
Yes the PW shared key can be the same for each radio.
-
Ah,okay, so i can use the same PW for both channels:)
My Iphone is 4S and my wife and sons are iphone 5.
Is there a benefit in using the same PW for both channels?
-
Ya the 4S is a 2.4Ghz only phone. I don't know about the 5.
Yes, less hassle about using different PWs. Remember, Keep It Simple. ;)
-
Ok i'll change it to the same PW for both:)
I'll be back :) :)
-
;)
-
Hi, the iphone 5 is supposed to be dual band, so.....something should show.
-
Hi correct the iphon 5 shows both channel:)
But the wifes mac air still won't connect to the 5GHz/AC channel?
Only the 2.4 GHz she can connect too and i did set the same
password for both channels.
If you wan't i can show picture dumbs on my settings?
-
Please post a pic here of your WiFi settings...Adding Screenshots In A Post (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58120.0)
I presume the Mac Air is 5Ghz and AC mode supporting? Try single mode N on 5Ghz and test again with the Air.
-
Ok try this and see if it works?

Can you edit this post and copy and paste the IMG url links instead of the HTTP links...There is a option to select the link for FORUM use...
-
Not shure how to do that and there is no
such option in imageshack?
Can't you use them as they are now?
-
There is an IMG option on imageshack as I've used it to post pics here in the forums...having the HTTP links jsut makes it harder to review since you didn't include the hyper link option here in the forums. Third small button from the left, 2nd button row down. ;D
-
Change the 5Ghz Security from WPA2 Auto TPIK and AES to WPA2/AES Only.
Check to see if the Mac Air has any previous wifi profiles under networking. Remove them from the list. Turn OFF the WiFi on the Air then back ON. Then let it rescan for the 5Ghz radio..try to connect...
-
Ok i'll try your last suggestion ;D
-
My wireless securitymode for 2.4ghz is wpa personal.
wpa mode is wpa 2 only AES
5 ghz is wpa personal with AES
and wpa mode is wpa 2 only AES
-
That should work...
-
Hope so should had gotten the asus rt68u instead :'(
Too much trouble with settings with this device.
Do think a firmwareupgade will make it more solid and
make the wifi more stable?
-
mac air still won't connect to 5 ghz????????
Removed all wifi unless 5 ghz channel and can't
open safari? What am i doing wrong?
I now have a router that only use the old 2.4 ghz
channel so there was no sence in buying this new
thing when my old dir 655 did the same:)
Any last suggestions ?
-
If iPhone5s are connecting to 5Ghz and Mac Air, isn't, I might presume that there is a problem with the Mac Air...
-
Hi iphone 5 won't either connect to 5 ghz :'(
You must know i'm new with advanced settings on
these routers, but there is something i'm missing
with the 5 ghz setup? Maybe i should start all over
and follow install instructions from the dlink pdf file
setting up 2.4 and 5 ghz. AC standard is 5 ghz, right?
What about teamviewer? Is it possible for you to help
this way if we can find the time for it?
-
We have 2 iphone 5 one iphone 4s 2 macbooks, air and pro
with ac adapters. Only my iphone 4s and my boxee box use
the N standard. Just saying:)
-
Ok, lets try this, Set the 5Ghz radio for single mode N, and disable WiFi security temporarily. Does any of the Iphone 5s or Mac air connect to the 5Ghz Radio?
-
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
-
Hi i'm leaving you for to day it's bedtime
here in Europe Denmark:) But i'll get back
tomorrow and try your last option before
i write you again:)
Thanks for your help my friend ;D ;D
-
I,m on firmware 1.04 ;D
-
Ok, try the suggestion and we'll go from there. A FW update maybe needed. Let us know about the test first. Night. ;)
-
Hi well it seems like the iphone 5 now can connect
to the 5 ghz channel after i set the security to none?
Haven't tried the macbook air yet since my wife is still
at work :)
Is a firmware update necessary? Read other threads
where the firmware update made made the problems
worse so?
-
Ok so the phones can connect...I presume the air will as well.
It's a test that should be done to see if there is any security or WiFi issues. Seems that there is a WiFi security issue between the router and the devices.
Test the Air out when it's available and we can go from there...
-
The macbook air connected after 20 seconds on 5 ghz channel.
It seems like it's working at her work as well they have no
security either on ther wifi? Every day when she comes home
from work she has trouble with our wifi loggin on either channel.
I'm out for a couple of hours but will be bach later,ok?
-
Ok so it connected on the 868L at home with out security and is working?
Not try to enable WPA2 and AES only and test when you get back.
-
Hi again did set it to WPA2 only and AES
and wireless security mode WPA- Personal ;D
Wireless network settings 5 GHz is:
Enable wireless = Allways
SSID JANGO-5GHz
802.11 Mode = 802.11n Only
Enable Auto Channel Scan, marked
Wireless Channel = 5.180 GHZ- CH 36
Transmission Rate = Best Automatic
Channel Width = 20/40 Auto
That's about it ;D ;D
Wife just busy so getting back with result soon ;D
-
does the iphone 5 connect with this setting?
-
Yep ;D ;D
-
Ok thats good...now to see if Air will connect. ;D
-
One moment ;D
-
Id' also turn off the WiFi on the phones for 30 sec then back on again just to make sure they are connecting to the 5Ghz radio SSID name once more to be sure.
-
I,ll try this as soon she's finsished her online game
and talking with her iphone with her sister >:( >:( >:(
-
:P
-
Well after a restart mac air it's obviosly now on the 5 GHz channel
along with the iphone 5. It took a while before the mac air connected ;D
-
She is now shutting down and restarting the mac air a few
times and see how is goes. My wife has for over a week and so
has to log manuel to the wifi. 2.4 that is, but we hold our breath
so far ;D
-
Ensure the 5Ghz SSID is selected to connect to...
-
Ok i'll tell my wife that ;D
I'm leaving for to day and can't
thank you enough for your help my friend ::) :P
But let's see if it stays stable the next couple of days.
I'll be back :P
-
Have a good weekend. ;)
-
You too ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
