Ya think? LOL. Not a fan of google. I like Motorola the way they are.

Waaaaa? The services or their company practices? I can see the later..but I don't see how anyone can dislike what they offer.

D-link finally created independent boards for the different mainstream DCS models. The threads were going beyond confusion with all of the cross-discussion between products. Makes life a lot easier.

Well, someone needs a kick in the @ss for the "non-dealing with" the non-active moderators. Some haven't been active since 2008.

And the amount of spam posts is amazingly out of control.

I even called the 1-877 Tech support line the other day and the dude, I'm guessing from out of the N-Americas, had no clue WTF I was talking about when I said "the forum".

Amazing display of incompetence.

From the mods I've interacted with over the last two years, I've gathered that the mods are also product engineers and working in this forum is far from their primary responsibility. Spam is handled, it just takes a little longer than it should.

Yea, if I had to guess, this forum may have started as employee only. And I think the support is outsourced. Maybe not outside the country, but a independent support company.

D-Link is resource constrained when it comes to regular maintenance of this forum. Whenever large product deployments occur, the forum always takes a hit in terms of upkeep. The release of the Boxee Box last fall really slowed things down in the DNS boards.

When the Boxee Box rollout was in play, one of the mods told me that all of their resources were tied up on the deployment, and everything else, including the forum maintenance and  firmware updates for legacy products took a back seat.

One of the mods created breakout boards for the DCS-930L and DCS-932L sometime during the night, so someone is paying attention. The DCS boards were (are?) a mess. . . all of the threads for the DCS series were rolled-up in 3 pseudo-related boards. No way to separate everything out.

Now that separate boards are up, looks like I'll have to answer all those questions over again. Roll Eyes

Don't think I was clear. . . (you made me self-conscious about modifying my posts on this particular thread!) Angry

Originally there were no product-specific DCS boards, so everyone was posting in boards that kinda-sorta made sense. The threads are scattered all over and disorganized. Now that there are new product-centric boards, posts will be more orderly and broken-out by product, but we lose all the knowledge from the original threads.

The older threads are there, but once the new boards pick up steam, the old threads won't be read anymore.

Ultimately this will be a BIG improvement

LOL. Your funny man.

Ok, well I hope that making the boards more "product-centric" will help out. I think they might be going for what the routers have been doing, each router has its own specific board. Does make it a bit harder to mange and keep track of sometimes.  ::)

the NAS and media players are organized the same way as the routers. Makes sense conceptually, but yes, I find myself repeating information common to all products in each board.

The DCS series made no sense though. The DCS (i.e. camera) posts were scattered in "Digital Video - Hardware", "Digital Video - Software", and "DCS-1100/1130". And all three boards weren't even in the same parent directory. D-Link never made a home for those posts, so people just posted "where ever".
