upgrading from ver. 1.14 to 1.22n
« on: February 26, 2010, 03:12:12 PM »

i just bought this router about a week ago and i have several questions... i have ver.1.14 a2.... ive been having trouble with my router on wireless(i have nothing wired) it lags a couple of times during online play(it never lagged with my old cheap router) on my ps3(call of duty mw2), and sometimes it disconnects from my laptop.... should i upgrade to the new firmware??... or should i just stay with my version and make some changes??...or should i just return my router and not deal with the headaches this thing has given most of you(and which router should i get?).... thanks in advance for the advice... i just want this thing to work like its meant too lol....

I would upgrade to v1.15 thats on there FTP site. Start there 1st. I do have a 2nd 4500 running with that version and it works very well with it.

Directions are the same for all FW updates and are on the web, however here is the short version.
Use IE or FF to save off the routers current configuration file, if you have special settings or used my sticky to configure the router. This saves time after the update of manually going back in setting it up again.

Update to the version of FW you want.

After the Update, Select the Factory Reset option.

After the Factory Reset, Upload the save configuration file, if you don't then test the internet connections and WiFi.

I would set up the Basic/Internet/Manual Primary and 2ndary DNS for IP addresses from the WAN section in Status/Device info section. Sometimes these don't auto fill in with addresses. Let us know how this goes.
