i dont know if it was related, but found that my 323 was low on space .. i think it only had 250mb left of space. in the end, i telneted into the box and did a chmod -R 775 * which seemed to rectify the issue.

still unknown as to what caused the files to lock or get denied access

I notive the same problems.
V1.04, 2 Drive 500 Go (configure in normal mode, with Download Schedule active).

I was not able to edit, copy the file ... only delete the file and took and older version copy by the Download Scheduler.

As i said before, if the Download Scheduler can create a LOG file, i will be able to see all error during the copy (because the Lock File were unable to be copy from Drive_1 to Drive_2).
I notice the problems 2 days after (file was locked 20-2-2008 .. i erase it and took backup from 19-2-2008) ...
You now see why i can't trust the RAID  ... If the file suddenly being locked, without the download schedule, i loose the file and all the work on it.

Seems to me your expectation of what RAID will do for you doesn't quite match it's designers.

All RAID1 is intended to do is to prevent the system from going down when a drive fails - it does not protect the data from corruption or deletion, that's what a backup is for.

Yes .. I didn't purchase this unit for the RAID option, but only for the Download Scheduler. I want to be able to backtrack if i make a mistake on one file. It happen to me 3 times the last month, so the second drive was usefull (i synch everything at 3am each day).
When i see the error on 2 Excel file, i was able to take the last working Excel sheet... but of course, i loose the info i was adding since the last "successfull" backup.
