868L ipv6 settings
« on: August 31, 2013, 01:02:31 AM »

Hi
My provider offers native ipv6, I can't get it working with the router, it only gives me teredo.
I'm connecting via pppoe, tried autodetection, autoconfig and pppoe from the drop-down menu with no luck.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/405/skel.jpg/

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/gzy2.jpg/

On the pc i get usually only the link-local address, fe80...etc, sometimes the dns servers.
Connected directly i have no problems, only via router.
I updated the fw to 1.02, i am located in SE Europe, i hope it's not a problem...
With my tomato linksys e4200 it worked just fine, maybe i am doing something wrong with the settings here

I have done only one factory reset, i think the one after the upgrade. Is it necesary to repeat the cycle reset/update/reset ?
The provider is rcs-rds (romania) http://www.rcs-rds.ro/internet-digi-net/ipv6
The modem is ZTE ZXA10 F625G

We've found by using the reset/update/reset/configure from scratch works the best and ensures a good seating of the FW and has the best operation.

I got it working, it was exactly random lol. I used the exact same settings as 10 times before. The router just did not want to see my pc as an ipv6 connected device. Now I'm afraid that if I restart the router I'll lose the lucky "wonder" .
Does "save settings to local drive" actually works ? If so, where do i find the config files ? because I click the button and nothing happens...

PS : I tried returning to stock fw  usig the correct procedure, was a no go; updated again, same borring factory resets and config from scratch, again no go. I have no idea why it finally work. I'm using win 8.1 preview with latest IE and everything, but I don't think that matters because direct connection to the pc is working just fine.

Edit : IE 11 is not able to save the config, so maybe it was creating other problems during setup... just tried firefox and saved the file with no problems.

Edit 2 : It's down again... after pc restart the pc does not get the ipv6 addres; some times it only receives link-local, now i have that and gateway and dns but no ip.

I would contact your ISP and ask them what forum of IPv6 they support and see if any of the drop down menu options is listed there is supported by them. I.E. 6rd, DHCP IPv6, etc. Seems it you got it working once then something happened.

To save configurations of the router, go to Tools/System and select the Save Configuration to File.

Try a different PC or Windows version like Windows 7 if you can test that.

Try using FF to manage the configuration on the router.

Also, I'm showing only v1.01b05 as official current release FW for your region:
http://www.dlink.com/ro/ro/support/product/dir-868l-wireless-ac1750-dual-band-gigabit-router

I recommend that you re-install this version. I would not recommend using v1.02 if you installed from a NA region web site. There are differences.

Thanks for your input.
I enabled ULA in ipv6 local connectivity and it's working so far, even my android tablet gets global unicast native ipv6.
I will get back to the fw for my region if I lose connectivity again.

After 5 days I rebooted the router, no ipv6... now on my original fw i got it working again, but is a lottery.
I had to enable and disable ULA, is the only way I am able to get the router to see my pc as an ipv6 device.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this.

I would also test the router on a different ISP modem if possible, like at a friends place or families that has IPv6 support on there ISP. You might ask your ISP if there is a newer model ISP modem that you can test with as well. Need to narrow down if the cause of the loss of IPv6 is due to ISP modem services interruptions or the FW isn't re-establishing the IPv6 service for some reason there.

Change out cables as well. Use CAT 6.

Keep us posted.

My isp can't help me because if I connect the pc directly I have no problems. I think that the problem is the firmware,  maybe some errors in it. I can only hope I don't have a faulty unit. I'll try ddwrt in a week or something like that,  I have to be sure that it has ipvv6 working and that is stable and fully functional.

Nope, same randomness.  If I restart the router I lose the ipv6 connectivity,  I have to force a few dhcpd restarts by changing settings and also enable/disable ULA. Always the same errors in the log. The firmware is to blame, that is my conclusion.
Ddwrt is a no go so far,  I prefer tomato anyway, but I don't think there is a version for this router.

Not to repeat myself however, I would contact D-Link support and let them know and see if they have any information and help for this. If this is FW related then it needs to be reviewed by D-Link themselves for your region. This is beyond forum help here. Please phone this in so they will be notified and can start tracking it.
