The connected clients list does not retain the naming i give it on my DIR-880L.
All devices show as UNKNOWN again.
Hardware Version: A2
Firmware: v1.05

What mode are you using the DAP in? Main AP or extended?
-
extended

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. The US offers Chat support for consumer products at support.dlink.com. 24/7. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

oh boy. i am starting to see a pattern here.
-
Possible naming on the 880L doesn't get passed to the DAP while in extender mode.
-
i can confirm that is the case. what a shame. its like D-Link doesn't do any QA testing with its own products.
-
Depends on what they intended. Maybe how they designed it.
I'll have them review this.
-
It would be great if their products really integrated well with each other. Small details like that make all the difference in the world to consumers.
-
Not sure why this is a problem. The clients are connecting to the extender, not the router. The naming of clients is for the DHCP table or reservations on the router.
-
I understand that. Wouldn't it be awesome if the extender could obtain that info from the router? Especially since are both products from D-Link? It is frustrating to spend so much time naming devices which then do not translate through to other interfaces.

AT most, users should review the routers connected devices for there information on the router. Extenders are just pass thru's mostly for device traffic. There isn't really any need to always look at the extenders UI. Users set it up and forget about it. Devices should appear and be managed on the router mostly. I think your over complicating this some.

Not trying to over complicate it. Just thought it would be a nice feature.

It is what it is. ;)
