Product stopped working?
« on: November 22, 2012, 07:55:28 AM »

Okay so I've been suing DWA-160 for about 2 months now and it has been working great for me. small Dcs. but nothing serious. until yesterday i restarted my computer for the first time in a long time and after this i haven't been able to start wireless connection manager. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and everything. but nothing seems to work. i was up until 3 am yesterday trying to fix this problem but still no solution.

There are threads about a similar problem but there has been no comfirmed fix. I'm running a rev.B2 version of the product.
Have anyone been able to fix this?
And I've tried running the Usb adapter without the Wireless connection manager running but it just wont work. I've tried all the usbports on my pc without profit.

If this is unfixable. please recommend other products.. because i don't feel like fighting with this too long.
Your Pierre

Edit: according to Windows my device is working and i have the latest drivers.

What Windows version is this installed on?

Disable any 3rd party security software like Anti-Virus and firewalls during installation.

Are you using drives on disk or the latest from the main web site? Try drivers from the main web site.

im running w7.
i've tried with the disc and the ones from the website. and it makes no sense at all that the "old" drivers should stop working instantly?
What info do you need to be able to analize the problem?  btw. my pc finds the adapter but i cant use it to connect to networks since it cant find any. (as i said before it worked yesterday)

7 x32 or x64.

If x64, I would fully remove ALL the drivers from the system, the using the drivers from the web, reboot the PC and right after the BIOS posts screen, hit F8 to bring up windows alternate boot sequece menu. Select Disable Driver Enforcement options and continue to boot. Disable all security software temporarily then try to install the drivers and the DWA software. IT should install.

i have 64x.  i've tried removing all the drivers and rebooted the pc a million times now but nothing.
And i just noticed that my dwa is getting really really hot if it's plugged in for a short amount of time. could it be a faulty device or is this normal?

Have you tried the Disable Driver Enforcement option?
I would try to install the 160 in a different PC as well.
