Title: DNS 320- 4TB combining 2 DNS to work as one

hi,

i have a DNS 320- 4TB. the settings for my HDD is RAID 1 which is using all 2 HDDs at once. the space is low and i want to add another DNS 320- 4TB with same IP address and same back-up drive. is it possible?

your help will be highly appreciated

NO.

You can not have any two devices on a network with the same IP address, the network will not know where to send the data.  This is built in to the ethernet standard to which all manufacturers must comply.

Assuming your backup drive has the capacity and is also on the network there is nothing stopping you backing up an additional DNS-320 to it (we backup all our various NAS to one of our server controlled storage centres every night).

Or. you could reconfigure them both to be JBOD therefore giving you 8gb on each. then use one for live and the other for backup and replicate the data between the two.
