New update 3.3.1 does not work

Just installed the new patch on my iPad. I have the 5010 and a few 942l cameras on my network. The fix works when I select my 5010, but when I switch to the 942, I have to wait forever (spinning circle goes on and on). It just does not work for the 942. On the 5010 I noticed that the fps went down to 4 (from 10 with v3.2). Also the resolution in the controls stays at 240 and cannot be changed. However, in reality the resolution is 480 when I touch the "I" button, and switches to 480 only when I am on full screen. Still buggy and broken. Disappointed.

Did you removed the app first then install it again?

I had not, but after I saw your posting above, I removed it, and installed it clear. Same behavior. I can get to my 5010L, but getting into any of my 942L's is impossible. Never had this problem before v3.3.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Checked the dlink lite comments, and everybody seems to have the same problem with me. 942L cameras do not work with the new interface. I called but nobody answered. I guess if they read the forum comments and the feedback of the app, then they would know something is bad (in case they cannot tell on their own). The cameras that work (in my case 5010L), have less than half the frames per second than before, and resolution shows as 240. Something is seriously broken.

Also, which firmware version of the DCS-942L are you using? I show that the current firmware is version 1.23.

I am using the third generation iPad. Firmware on all eight dcs942l cameras is at level 1.23. Live video on the cameras times out. If I tap fast enough on the recording icon, I can see video recorded in memory. If I am slow, I am dead in the water. I can see live video on my 5010, but only at 2 frames per second. Before the upgrade it used to be 10 fps, minimum.

2. How do you connect your iPad to to the internet? 3G, 4G, or WiFI? If WiFi, Do you connect your iPad to the same router as the camera’s?  Because that is local mode viewing.

I have not changed the resolution on any of my devices, since everything was working fine before the upgrade, for over 1 year, nonstop. The resolution is 640x480 MJPG on every camera. All the cameras are connected to the router via 100baseT Ethernet. I can access the cameras local or remote through the app on my iPad. Same issue. I can see video on the 942L from my iPad only by accessing the microSD memory on the camera, but the live video stream is unreachable. No problem to access the cameras and live video from my laptop.

Currently I can access all the cameras from my iphone which has 3.3.0, but I am not going to upgrade to 3.3.1.  My iphone gets 10fps on a specific 5010, and can display live video from the 942L. My iPad gets only 5fps on the same 5010 and times-out on the 942L.

Meanwhile, I used my laptop to reboot one 942L and that did not solve the problem.

So, I saw yet another new update (3.3.2) that fixes the problem with the live stream on the iPad. I applied it, and it partially dies. The default resolution on the 942L comes at 240. When I switch it to 480, it times out. The 5010 has only 240 resolution (could not be switched) but in full screen it "declares" 480, when the quality seems like 120. Let alone that the fps (when the app works) bottoms out.

I have been a software developer for a large company, and it pains me to criticize my colleagues, whoever they might be. This case takes the cake. I have never seen such irresponsibility, by releasing such buggy products. One may argue that this is a free app. Well, I bought over 12 dlink cameras because they offered the cloud capability with the free app for mobile devices. One basic principle that applies on software updates, is when you have a version that works well, you do not release an update without extensive testing, if you plan a drastic change, or departure from what made the package work well. I am not sure if dlink changed their programmers but I do not care. This is pretty bad business. You guys at dlink better fix this fast (by either allowing users to fall back to versions that work, or by doing incremental testing), and stop playing with your customer's patience.

RyoS, My apologies for being so harsh. I was frustrated when I posted, and I know I should have waited a bit. I thank you for posting here on behalf of the development team, that shows that you really care to keep your customers happy. Looking forward to the update that limits the problems we encountered with this upgrade. Good luck, and may the bugs be with others  ;).

 Good to have your sincerely apologize for the issues with the recent updates.  But we are nearly 30 days further and still no solution. Is your development team actively working on the issue?
Meanwhile I can not use my security system based on DCS-942L bij my Phone!!! Is this your support quality?

Even  after contacting the local D-Link dutch team there seams to be no progress in this case. The error still exist. Dlink don't give a positive response on this complaints !!!
