Wireless settings getting automatically altered
« on: May 19, 2015, 02:22:57 PM »

I have been using DIR615 for over 3 years now. Off lately it's acting strange.
The wireless settings get automatically altered randomly upon reboot. Security becomes 'none' or SSID becomes default 'dlink'.
Or it's just loses wireless broadcast. HW E4 FW 5.13. I have switched between 5.10 as well as 5.13.
Is this an indicator of a failing device?  One thing to mention is I live in Asian subcontinent and current summer avg ambient temperature in the region goes as high as 35 c (around 90 F).
Yet to try a full reset, but certainly this is for the first time such an issue has come up and is persistent over last few days.

Do you have a back up saved configuration file for the router handy?

Do others have access to the router or the reset button in back? Someone maybe resetting the router to factory defaults.

The router should not be changing anything unless there is a reset on the router or someone is accessing the routers web page and changing something.

Thanks for the reply.

back up saved configuration file -  now have made one.
Someone maybe resetting the router to factory defaults - When this was noticed I was alone in my home. Even if someone resets, I guess entire range of settings would get altered and not just Wireless portion.
someone is accessing the routers web page and changing something - That's what scared me..but at least logs did not show any new handshake (to what best I understand the language of those logs)

While router should not change anything just like that, any possibility that the RAM or whatever that holds the settings in router might have got corrupted etc causing portion of settings to get altered. Just a thought though. Last 2  days nothing unusual noticed as such. Shall keep a watch. Thx.

You might want to do a FW re-load and see if something happens again. Use the following process if you do this:

Post back if you experience the problem again.  ;)
