Old topic but, I never had a problem plugging the Ethernet Chord directly into my computer and mapping it. I have so many videos and pictures from the military I cannot access anymore. Easy search utility finds the Dlink but can not configure. I can also see the volume but cannot connect. Both configuration and connect aren’t highlighted. I have spent hours and hundreds of dollars on this. The computer store says resetting it messed it up. I reset it many times with no problems.
Anybody want to dust off their 321 knowledge?

Hi, I don't have an 321, but I also don't exactly understand your question. Is this a networking problem? Generally there is a cable from the computer to the router, switch, or hub, and another one from the hub to the NAS. There is also a DHCP server somewhere on that network that passes out IP addresses. All device addresses have to be on the same network, with the same netmask in order to communicate with each other within that network. Is that the case? Wat is the IP configuration of your NAS and of your computer? Is there a hub, switch, or router in between?

If you don't have a LAN switch or hub to connect the NAS to the PC, then a cross over LAN cable is needed when directly connecting a PC to any other LAN wired device. When using a LAN switch or hub, then a straight through LAN cable is needed.
