DNS-320L dont recognoise HDD
« on: September 29, 2017, 06:52:13 AM »

hello

I currently have the V1.9 firmware, and does not recognize any of my 2 Toshiba P300 models, I also tried a WD WD40PURPX but did not even turn on the front light of the disc, try with a 2.5 samsung disc and correctly recognize the volume.
Check the TOSHIBA discs on another pc and have no problems
try other 3.5 "hard drives but do not recognize them (I do not remember the models now)
I downgrade to version 1.6 but the problem persists

any idea or test you can do to rule out problems?
thanks

Sorry, I forgot that information
I am from Santiago, Chile
according to this pdf (of the http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNS-320)
ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DNS-320/REVA/DNS-320_REVA_COMPATIBILITYLIST_20150122_EN.PDF
the WD40PURX is supported (reason why probe with that specific model)
but in the link that you passed me, use the search engine and not figure.
The version I think I had downloaded the same link that you gave me but when I check the version I figure the 1.9 test again.

Not sure if v1.10 will make any difference. You can try it.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

The fact it 'sees' a 2.5" disk and not 3.5" disks points towards a faulty power supply (one that does not supply the required current under the load of the larger disks).

A simple test would be to use another power supply that has an output of 12v at at least 3Amps (more Amps do not matter but the 12 volts are critical).  I it works with the replacement supply then the problem is solved, if it doesn't and it is still under warranty, return it as faulty.

I think the same, I tried with an alternative power source 12V 5A (according to the specifications) but the problem persists, but I do not rule out that this source of power is defective
I will test with another source by checking the correct voltage (12V) to avoid damages
