New beta firmware solves DNS-o-Matic issues with the DIR-810L
« on: November 06, 2014, 04:18:20 PM »

Hello everyone, I am an Italian user of the DIR-810L. I chose D-Link because several users reported no problems in using the custom dynamic DNS feature, for example with the DIR-655. However, as you may know, using the updates.dnsomatic.com update server was troublesome for many users of other models, see for example:

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=9892.0

I'm happy to tell you that in around 10 days, after some problems with the support web application, the staff was able to provide me with a working beta version. That's V1.02b22beta03 and I can confirm it works perfectly with DNS-o-Matic, and thus with any of the tons of dynamic DNS services supported by it. You can effortlessly update your OpenDNS account for web filtering, and so on.

If you, like me, were planning to buy this router for using this feature, go on and buy it! Kudos to the support service for solving the issue quickly. :D

A question for the forum staff: can I post a link to the beta firmware? ;D

Link>Welcome!

Thank you for the feed back and information on your experiences.

Unfortunately, we can not allow links to non official D-Link web sites for FW/SW files. Only official D-Link sites are supported. Also due to regional differences in FW, it's not recommended to use FW from other or out side of regions as there are differences in the code and some features.

I presume that if D-Link pushes this to all regions, eventually we'll get it the updates if D-Link sees fit and after testing and qualification of it.

Thank you for your feed back and time.

Enjoy.  ;)

I see. I may consider putting it on my personal website then. Maybe it will be useful to some people.

Just to be precise, the link I wanted to publish is on the dtrack0.dlink.com.tw domain. :P

But I understand your point. Let's hope they will be quick to roll out the update to everybody. Many different models are/were affected by the issue.

I believe thats an internal domain to D-Link and is only available to D-Link employees. We can't access that. it requires a internal D-Link email account.

If you can get them to publish officially any of the main sites for your region or here: tsd.dlink.com.tw
