Back up my DNS 343
« on: November 16, 2009, 11:33:57 PM »

I have tried looking through the forums and searched every term I can think of but have only found ways to back up TO my DNS 343 or back up my DNS 343 to another NAS.

I don't have another NAS but do have a few external hard drives lying around.

My DNS 343 has 2x1.5TB and 2x1TB drives in two RAID1 arrays. I like the redundancy of RAID1 but am conscious that it is not the same as a back up.

Is there a way (software or otherwise) to back up the data on my NAS to an external hard drive?

Cheers Dave

you say you don't have another NAS, but do you have another computer to put the drives into?

I only have the computer I work on but would prefer not to put any more drives in that unless there is no other option.
Before switching to a NAS I used external drives so was ideally looking for a use for them!
