Title: Camera setup needs to be easier

I've setup 2 DCS-2330L cameras in the past 2 days and I have some
suggestions. I'm a application programmer my entire career.(now
retired). Your setup needs to be easier. I might suggest setting
defaults in the event setup. Default to SD recording and motion
detection. So one doesn't have to set these items up to get started.
Apple's success is easy setup and use. They make informed decisions on
how their machines are used and set it up that way.You could easily set
defaults on the most common use of the camera. More advanced users can
always change what they want. My experience with most users is that they
aren't very experienced. Let me know what you think.

I was totally with you until you mentioned Apple. Apple is user friendly because it takes the control away from the user as a practice. A good example of this is their Airport routers. No web UI, no logs, and have to use a specail app to change any settings.

Changing what the system defaults are is a good idea, however, are those settings really the best for the majority of the user?  I would think most would record to a server or security PVR.

Default to WHAT exactly?    This is impossible.  How can DLINK know what a user would want - ftp images or videos to email or ftp server or NAS, etc, etc...
Motion detection to what? IMAGE or PIR?

mydlink.com appears to do some of this "defaulting" on a camera.  (I've never used it, since I enter the camera's F/W to control).
