Aspect Ratio control - force 4:3 for analog TV?

Hello,

I'm reviving my DSM-310, and I plugged it up, and it's done the update to v2 firmware.  I am connecting this in with an analog TV for the time being.  The problem is the device displays everything as 16:9 ratio, squished into 4:3.  4:3 programs are even more squished.

I can't see any obvious setting that will tell the device that the basic output should be in 4:3 format.  I maybe confusing this box with our old Roku, where we could change the aspect ratio easily - but did this box ever have an option to put it into 4:3 mode?
