No Internet Connection
« on: August 13, 2009, 02:50:31 PM »

Used the DAP-1522 (F/W 1.2) with DIR-655 and had great success but have moved locations and now trying to get the internet through a Cisco 1200 Access point using WEP open 26Hex security.

DAP-1522 setup as bridge as before. Setup went fine and DAP-1522 status shows connected to the wireless network using default static IP 192.168.0.50. Computer running XP Pro and running an IP address of 192.168.0.123. Changing computer IP address back to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and ran ipconfig to show the IP Address as 10.193.6.78 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 10.193.6.1. This matches up with the Cisco network addresses of 10.193.6.xx.

Scanning the network using an iPhone with iNet program sees the computer reports the correct IP address of 10.193.6.78 and identifies it as a Dell.

But there is no internet connection outside even though it appears on the network with a reasonable IP address. When I plug a second computer into the bridge the computer IP address is 169.254.167.40 with a 255.255.0.0 subnet mask. Third computer was also 169.254.167.xx.

Disabled firewalls and there is no MAC filtering on the network. Trying to get a VOIP phone to work via the $100 DAP-1522 bridge rather than using ICS on a $1000 laptop where it is working now.

Not sure what to try next and not sure where the 169.254.167 IP address originated.
