Generate your own QR Code to register a new camera
« on: June 02, 2020, 08:22:55 AM »

This might be useful or might be common knowledge but I wanted to share it because I spent a lot of time trying to solve it. I have a DCS-930L camera and I was not able to add it to the MyDlink Lite app or the MyDlink app because a QR Code was required.  I found a QR Code from a different model in a demo video, scanned that one to understand its structure.  So basically the QR Code needs to contain:

model,version,mydlinknumber,MAC,WiFi

You can find that information at the back of the camera with the exception of the WiFi name, I used the camera model and it worked fine.

You need to create a text string with that data, including the "," and use any QR Code generator on the web to create a new QR Code for that text.  When you try to add the camera to the app, you just scan that code and the camera is added.

QR code isnt' required. One  can manually add any model D-Link camera to the apps.

Correct. that is possible. In my case, resetting the camera to follow the initial steps was not an option so I wanted to use the QR Option to add it without losing the current configuration. The camera has been working for a while and it is not easy to access the location.
