internet light not green

HL86:
Hello everyone

We have a D-link router DIR-850L at our office.
On the front of the router, there are 2 lights: the power light, and an "earth globe" (internet)-light.
The power light is green, but the internet light isn't! There is no cable in the internet port at the back.
Does this mean that the router isn't sending out any wifi?

Thank you so much!

* What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
* Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
* What region are you located?
Is the 850L working as the main host router for all or is it configured as a LAN to LAN AP?

If the internet port is not being used and wifi is still enabled, wifi is still working, however may not be fully connected to the internet if the internet port is not being use or one of the other ports is being used for AP mode:
Turning a router into an AP.

Hello!

Thank you so much for your quick reply!
I can't read the sticker under the router case, because our computer man put another sticker on top of it.
I'm located in Belgium.
The following cables are in the router:
There are cables in nr. 1, 2 and 4 of the LAN-ports.
There is a cable in the power port.
That's all. We do have a modem (which would also be a router) on our wall. But I don't know if that one's connected to the D-link-router.

Kind regards

P.s.: What is an AP?

FurryNutz:
Wireless Access Point.

If your ISP modem has a router built in then it's possible that the 850L is working as a 2ndary AP while connected LAN to LAN to the ISP modem/router. You'll need to trace on where the cables are going to see if the 850L is connected LAN to LAN to the ISP modem.
