Motion detection

For motion detection, does it detect in the red squares that we put in, or everything except the red squares?
(other cameras use green squares, whereas conventionally red suggests it is the exception, so it's not clear if the squares are positive or negative for detection)

Be sure to review the user manual for help and information on this as well.
