Might be something with Windows 8.1. Might call and ask D-Link support if there is any configuration issues.

What modes are you using on the main host router? Try Single G or N modes, then try Mixed G and N only.

I guess you'll need to wait for drivers or find a solution that has windows 8 drivers. I presume maybe all Mfrs are having to come up with Win 8 drivers for there current product lines.  ::)

One suggestion, you might go to RaLink or Broadcom and download the native drivers for the chipset that is on this model. I have the DWA 160 and had to use the RaLink drivers to install on my Mac due to OS compatibility issues. Works as a alternative solution. Curious if the 130 drivers could be compatible with 8.1.

Curious, if you plug in the 131 using same drivers, does it work or have the same issue?

I presume it maybe a compatibility issue between the 131 and Windows 8.1.

Try finding the Mfr chip set drivers maybe, I presume either RaLink or Broadcom or maybe Atheros. Other then that, you'll probably need to wait for D-Link to update drivers for Win 8.1.

Any status on this?  ??? Try to install the driver via device manager with manually pointing at the unpacked driver folder and see.

No experience with Win 8. Only thing you can try is to unpack the driver for the 171 or 131 and use the device manager to install the device manually and point to the unpack folder. Not sure if you'll need to remove the utility executable from the folder prior to installed. There is probably a co-installer that effects any installation of the utility. IF the driver is on CD, copy the contents of the CD or driver folder off the CD and remove any utility executables if you can find it.

Let us know how it goes.

I see there is a driver only folder in the zip file thats on the web site. I think if you pointed the device manager to the appropriate folder it should install just the driver only.
