HELP| Download manager/client for DIR-882
« on: March 01, 2020, 07:54:38 PM »

I have a DIR-882 router. I have attached external HDD.
I can only download torrent file from routers built in torrent client.
but I want to download other normal files using router.

previously I used netgear/asus. they have built in download manager/client in router, that supported HTTP/FTP/TORRENT (not only limited to torrent)

even 3rd party firmware like openwrt support aria2 and other download manager.
aria2 support torrent+http download.

please help me is there any client to download files in stock firmware?
if not why dlink dont giving this small but very useful fearure?

DIR routers don't have any app to download files with.

You can try this method to access files on a USB drive:

Thanks, but thats not solution.
I am talking about built in downloader inside router.
No need mobile app. There should be a download option in router's admin panel (web management panel)

for example see this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=121K56mflUg
other router supports HTTP+TORRENT download.

Very few routers on the market support that feature. D-Link does not.

You best solution for this would be to get into a NAS unit. Find something that has support for downloading files from the internet. D-Link has NAS however don't mfr anymore.

My guess is that @kuntaltest has the R1 revision of the router ( the one from the russian ISP with custom firmware as in the http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=75107.0 thread ); that one did indeed had an embedded torrent client and also telnet access enabled if I remember correctly ( 2 features I would like to see in the global/US versions of firmware also).

@kuntaltest could you also please tell us the download speeds you get from the native torrent client when writing to the  USB HDD ; also could you test the read/write speed to the attached USB HDD from your internal LAN ( copy a large file to and from that HDD ) . These answers would help us identify an issue with the USB storage performance on the US/Global versions of the router ( rev A1 ) where most of the time it maxes out at ~ 7 MB/s .
If you're getting consistent higher speeds then it's a software bug and not a hardware limitation ( the CPU+RAM combo should be good for at least 15-20 MB/s as possible in other similar routers and indeed occasionally it reaches ~30 MB/s transffer speeds for me but only on a time limited basis )

Ya that would be ISP custom FW that some ISPs can do. Up to them to support it though. Something I think that D-Link USA or D-Link HQ will not be willing to support at this point. Usually new features come out soon after the router intro's. Depending upon needs and requests seen by users. Long after that, D-link only makes fixes or closes security issues until the router turns EOL. We don't see any new features come to the router since this takes more time and money to develop and test before it would be given.

Lets get the current problems fixed for now.  ;)
