I wish D-Link would not use 192.168.100.1. This IP address is mostly a default IP address for cable ISP stand alone (no built in router) modems.  >:(

Can you change the modems default IP address from 192.168.0.1 to .1.1? This should help some...

Yes.

I changed. But the problem continues...

I thing that there is a BUG.

To be sure I'm thinking to install DD_WRT Firmware and see if it works correctly.

Hello!

Thank you!

I just talked with the support of DLINK. They was unable to help me with the issue. They told me that is normal that the router generate the IP 192.168.100.1, when connected to a Modem that start with 192.168.0.1.

They also told me that the router should be working in the actual mode. They ask me to send an email with all setups that they test with me during the phone call.

I doubt that they will find the problem. I thing that is a BUG.

Might I ask as you why need IFTTT integration for ; what are you trying to achieve ?

I realy don't need it. But when a company sell you something. And says that work. I will test it. If doesn't work in my opinion, not worth paying for it. Is what happened with the TP-Link.

Do you know if is possible to install DD-WRT and uninstall it if I want?

Thank you!

I try it to make the configuration as the instruction above. But the problem with the USB persist.
The internet is working normally. The rest of the network working well.

Thanks!

You can install DD-WRT on it but first you have to do it via recovery mode ; the latest versions of firmware only accept signed firmware images via the web based upgrade procedure and DLink is the only one with the private signature key . You can also revert to official firmware afterwards .
This being said I wouldn't advise you to try it since in my opinion you don't seem to have a firm grasp on the fundamentals ; you don't seem to understand that it's perfectly normal that if you have a client connected to the modem's network ( IP of client is 192.168.0.x ) and not the fault of any bug with the router . They are different networks . The answer given by DLink support probably refereed only that it should work because they thought that the client from which you're trying to access the USB HDD is connected to the DLink router ( with an IP of 192.168.100.x ) and not the other router ( the modem is a router also ) and in that scenario indeed it should work .
You could try to rewrite the original firmware in recovery mode to make sure there isn't an issue with the firmware you have now (if there isn't a real hardware problem it should fix the issue preventing you to access the USB device root ) ; DD-WRT by default is intended for more experienced users and at this time it's not at the level of stability of the official firmware ( especially on the 5 GHz wireless part ) .

Sorry I didn't understood what you mean?

Actually I'm accessing the internet through Dlink router that is connected to a Modem. I'm trying to access a USB that is connected in the D-LINK router. This is no secret... Any noob can do this... I did this all my live with the Linksys WRT54G that is with the DD-WRT that I installed and configured.

I used a TP-link router that worked perfectly with the USB sharing for 2 weeks. The issue was with the TP-LINK support and the IFTTT that didn't work it. I am very picky with the products I buy.

I will try it now...

Honestly, I won't waste my time any longer if this doesn't work.

These routers are designed to work with novice users. And there should be no secret in all this.

Thank you!

Well I did it as you told me. And didn't work. I rewrite the original firmware

Nothing seams to work.

I thing that the DIR 882 have a firmware bug.

I'll wait for D-link support. If they don't give a solution. I'll return it. It's enough for me.

Thank you all for help.

How exactly did you do what I've suggested ; how did you rewrite the firmware ?

1 - Turned off the router
2 - Preset the reset button
3 - Turned on the router with the reset button preset.
4 - Router light started to twinkle
5  - I loaded in safe mode the firmware.

No changes.

I can downgrade using this method?

Yes you can use the same method to load any other version of firmware you wish ; I however wouldn't go lower than v 1.11 as the ones before had some bugs in them .

Well..
After several test and more tests. The problem was not solved. Dlink support don't know what to do. And they don't give me dead line for the solution. So.. I decided to return the product to the vendor...

Thank you all for the help.

Thanks for the feedback and patience. Understand that you returned the router. Hope next router does what it's supposed to do.

I've taken up the mantle on this and asked D-Link to look into this as I can't see my drive in networking at all. I can access it thru Media Player is all.

Good Luck.

Yes. I have the same problem.

I thing that I will try to buy the TP Link A9 (upgraded C7) and give a new chance to TP-LINK. More simple, cheaper and seams to have a good review in Amazon. If I want a better router I'll have to pay much more.

If you have a suggestion of D-link router that have Mu-mimo and have excellent reviews. This will help.

Thank you!

If you really want to use the USB port for a makeshift NAS I would suggest you have a look @ ASUS's offerings ( especially models with Merlin firmware support ) ; they have more robust USB storage options ( some even have embeded dowload/torrent manager in the firmware if that's your thing ) .

Or make the jump to NAS. Ever since I got my NAS (DNS-345) I haven't looked back at USB what so ever. All my stuff sits nicely on NAS and accessible from where I need it. Dedicated NAS is nice over USB any day. Less hassle too.

Good Luck.

I agree with Furry. Dedicated NAS or file server, especially if you are streaming video/movies.

I will have D-Link look into the USB issue and hope I can get some documentation and/or best practices.

Also remember sharing data through the router adds a ton of overhead to the processor and memory. If you have 30 devices connecting, and a bunch of rules such as port forwarding, the router has to process all that on top of the data from a shared drive.
