DNS-321 will no longer power up - now what?
« on: November 26, 2014, 02:39:33 PM »

Over the past couple of weeks, a 3-year old DNS-321 began freezing periodically. I would simply reboot the device, run all diagnostics, everything tested fine, did not think too much of it.

I noticed today that the device was powered off, I am now unable to get it to light up.

What now? There were 2 mirrored drives (RAID1), I would prefer to avoid having to go the Linux route to copy data over to a new drive. For example, is it possible to move the existing drives to an new ShareCenter device?

The Linux filesystem used on the new generation ShareCenters (everything after DNS-320) is different than that used on the DNS-321/323/343, preventing backwards compatibility with the older model ShareCenters.

Thank you for the reply.

I was surprised to learn that D-Link storage devices are no longer available in local retailers (Frys, Best Buy, Staples), ended up with a Netgear RN102, very happy so far with the performance, capabilities, support.

Ended up selling the dead DNS-321 on eBay...

I noticed that as well. D-Link has always maintained a large presence through online retailers, at least in the U.S.
