Title: SharePort (USB Port Sharing)
Post by: Amazing Iceman on November 21, 2008, 07:36:02 AM
Just a couple of questions:

When it's configured as Network USB to share a hard drive...
- Does it care what kind or partition my shared hard drive has?
- Does it share the hard drive device blindly, without caring how it's partition or even if it's not partitioned?

The reason I'm asking is to understand if would be possible to share a drive with a MAC OS Extended Partition.

The best use for this device would be to share a drive used for Time Machine (backups).

Thanks,

-John

Wow!! It's been a month and a half ago, and no replies at all! Is this forum dead?
Could someone let me know if and/or when Shareport willbe available for the MAC?

Thank you!

Why again did we spend so much money on this router? Seems to perform no better than my $50 netgear. Ripoff

This should be called the archives not forums more accurate description.

If you purchased the router just for shareport and are complaining about the price, i pose one question to you. Why not just get the 655? It's cheaper and still has Shareport?

Also the Mac version client will be made available to the 655 first, as it's shareport version will be updated in the 1.30 firmware.

True Lycan but the fact is that this router comes with the Shareport on it. So you can use the router for gaming and/or for normal use. Maybe we want to hook up a printer that all our computers can print to. But still the fact is that everything should work on this router.
