Title: Can't access cameras through web all the sudden? Never had a problem before
Post by: taymag on May 04, 2015, 06:15:10 AM
Ive had these for about a year without a problem but now when I go to the web interface they wont load up they just say "Connecting to your CameraName" then say Unable to connect. The cameras work fine on the phone app so I know they are working.

Any ideas or has anyone ran into this problem? Are anyone elses working at least so I know the web interface works at least?

Are you accessing the cameras from the LAN side or a remote location from the WAN side?

I am accessing them from the same computer I set them all up from (at home where the cameras are).

I am trying to access them through the Dlink page so I can go in and change the motion settings. I wasn't saying I fixed it sorry I was just telling you where I was accessing from. They have worked for months and months now so I don't know what could have changed.

**And these cameras do allow me to see them in the iPhone App so they are working and connected apparently. I just cant login on the computer, it says unable to connect on all of them

**And another thing, I just checked and the DNR-202L lets me login from the My Devices screen, just not the cameras.

I'd run thru and review those links posted and see if anything there will help.

What is the Mfr and model of the ISP modem and Main host router?

PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Hi,

I'am also having the same issue for a few weeks (at least because I don't use regularly the mydlink website to access my cameras). When accessing "My devices" the "Live view" tab is showing "connecting" then "loading" and the spinning wheel stays displayed until the "Live video time up" message appears and offers to reconnect (no more success). It is the same thing with the "Settings" tab.

I have no trouble accessing my cameras with the iPhone app or via the web browser through direct LAN connection.
I'am using the latest version of Safari (8.0.6) on Yosemite with the latest java runtime (8u45).
My router is a Time Capsule and my cameras are DCS932L with the latest fw (updated in february). I'm not sure I have tested this feature right after this last upgrade.

I have also tried with firefox with exactly the same issue. I'm connecting through the eu.mydlink.com site... just in case.

Kind regards

After chasing my tail for 2 days, I hit the reset button (5 individual 932 (a) cameras) and started from scratch.

Fought Java...and won only on IE since I run a 64 bit system...  32 bit systems can work with Chrome...

This solved my problem - whatever it was...

Did you happen to set uPnP Port Forwarding to Enable on all of your cameras? This should be enabled on all. I only have one and it does work and helps connections.

Thanks for your interest and assistance - but, why?

I base this question on the facts that this installation worked for a few Months with no problems.  Then, all of a sudden, all 5 cameras stopped working. (Could not see/connect to  them in MyDlink, but visible using the local ip address).

Now, after a simple reset and reinstall for each camera, all is well using the factory defaullt.  I am using the dynamic ip address - not fixed.  I could see the need if using a fixed ip and unique port address setup.

Please accept this as a thirst for knowledge - not a challenge to your tech abilities...

Since you have more than on camera device on a router, the router needs to be able to handle ports for each camera. Each camera is assigned a port number to use. Depending on how the Mfr router is set up to handle these ports, having one camera online is probably normal. Handling more than one may get more complicated and depending on how the Mfr router is set up to handle these ports for more than one camera device, it may work well then again, it may not work well at all. Each camera needs it's own port number and can not occupy the same port number, thus uPnP is needed to help with port numbers that need to be assigned to each additional camera for the connection. The additional help comes from the uPnP Port Forwarding on the cameras to help the router and cameras gain a port number and ensure the router assigns port numbers when there are more than one camera on the same network needed Internet access to the WAN side of the router. We've seen issues with some Mfr routers and there designed and handlilng of port numbers via uPnP isn't done well so there could be some hang up in this area. Thus why we recommend enabling UPnP Port Forwarding on all cameras to help ensure and maintain good connections with the main host router, Internet services and D-links mydlink.com services.

Thank you for your interest in a thirst for knowledge.  ;)

I appreciate your timely and detailed response.  Thanks!!

Right now, I am fighting three "slippery" items on this Tx (5 each 932l(a) cameras) installation:
- The Hughes satellite system.  Slow data transfer and the ip address changes multiple times per day...
- Cheap router TP-Link TL-WR841N / ND.
- Customer away from site for a few days.

I cannot do anything about the satellite.  I am ordering a DLink router and am waiting for the client to return so that if (when) I lock up PC or router, I will have someone to restart the system...

Right now, it is working well and I am not going to mess with it for a while.

Again, Thnaks!

I may recommend a better router for these cameras...

I have already ordered the router.

This is a small installation in a single floor family dwelling (house).  The router is centrally located near the center of the installation...  It will be about 3 weeks before I get the router swapped out...

Ok, I was going to ask if this was for a home or business.

I'll recommend that you install an additional AP to help with the connections. Having this many cameras on a single router may cause saturation of the bandwidth on the router and to help with this, you can install an additional AP and spare the connections between the router and the AP. I would highly recommend doing this so you can stablize the system and help maintain good connections with the cameras and the wireless system. Nothing you can do for the SAT ISP.  ::)

Normally I would recommend a dedicated DAP model AP product, however thinking you need to keep this on the cheap, you could get another DIR-815 and wire connect it up and use it as your 2ndary AP by doing this to the 2nd DIR-815:  Turning a router into an AP. Ok, on my side I understand that the issue is related to Java recent updates (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53725.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53725.0)) and that the easiest workaround is to continue using the iPhone/iPad App for connecting to the cameras (or trying to tweak java parameters : http://support.dlink.com/FAQView.aspx?f=IlkzRfo0ym7ofWgtMitzCA%3d%3d (http://support.dlink.com/FAQView.aspx?f=IlkzRfo0ym7ofWgtMitzCA%3d%3d)).

I have tested the java parameters tweak on OS X Yosemite with java 8U45 (java.security and deployment.properties) with no success so far.
Upnp is enable on all my cameras. I'm a bit lost.

As I chased my tail thru this (unnecessary) Dlink/Java mess, I wound up building a test PC (Intel i5, 8G ram, 120GSSD) and loaded Win7 Professional - 32 bit.

Yes, 32 bit gave me less problems as I fought Java.

Another tool I suggest is the freeware software "Patchmypc".  (Google it.)  This allowed me to install the correct Java version - among other things.

I no longer recommend DLink cameras...

There is uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding. Both features need to be enabled.

I can confirm that with my 933L is connecting and accessible with OSX 10.10.3 and Java v8/45. The 932L should be working as well

I noticed that I had changed where my 933L had been connecting to, it was connected to a 2ndary wireless AP, so I could not access the camera. Once I changed to the primary router and wireless, I was able to access the camera from MDL and MDL Lite on my phone. Be sure the camera is connected to a primary wireless router and this router is the main NAT router.

I'm having similar issues.  Background first:

- 932L cameras
- 4 local
- 4 remote

NOTHING, repeat NOTHING has been tweaked, changed, or altered with the routers or devices or settings.

Viewing is fine using the Adroid app for all 8.

The 4 LOCAL cameras are live view/settings accessible in both Chrome and IE.

The 4 REMOTE cameras are no LONGER live view/settings accessible in the same browsers.  Probably started a few weeks ago.  I'm now greeted with a spinning 'connecting to your device' indicator.

All cameras have UPnP enabled, UPnp Port Forwarding disabled.  These have not changed.

The 4 REMOTE cameras are 2000 miles away in an unoccupied dwelling. If this PnP issue is the smoking gun (I have my doubts) does anyone want to save me a 4000 mile round trip and give me some alternatives?

Looking back up this thread, I had a similiar problem in that my remote cameras were a few hundred miles away.   My quick thoughts...

Try a different computer to connect.  The current one has obviously received an update from Java (or something) that has caused this issue.  Look to restore this existing PC back to a date before your problems started - you might get lucky...  Try using someone's apple product to view...  Anything to isolate the problem down to a single -repeatable- situation.
What we seek is the problem child in this mess.  I finally had to build a PC using Windows 7 Pro 32 bit (x86) to ward off the problems of installing Java.  D-Link software did not like the 64 bit browsers...

Along with using the 32 bit browsers in the 32 bit machine, my ultimate solution was to reset and reload each camera as if installing new...

good luck

I can't seem to find the repeat function.  Also, could you explain why half the cameras work fine without tweaking the uPnP settings?  Thanks.

Just had posted under subject "Access with MyDLink" a similar malfunction, without reading your case before. So I also changed now UPnP Forwarding enabled and things run fine now. This explains also why cam1 of 4 worked fine whereas the others failed. But at the end I must mention, that I never changed these settings, was it done by DLink firmware updating ?
Title: Re: Can't access cameras through web all the sudden? Never had a problem before

Some uPnP security problems were closed by D-Link on various products. If you have a different Mfr router, some router Mfrs may have not closed the uPnP problem with in there FW. D-Link keeps there security problems up to date and close as fast as they can so camera behavior changes maybe seen by users. So uPnP Port Forwarding does resolve many connection issues. However some problems maybe seen on the MFr router side if they have not changed there FW on there routers.

So from now on for any D-Link camera, uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding should be enabled for seemless connections.

Some uPnP security problems were closed by D-Link on various products.

This would of really been nice to know before I left for the next 6 months, effectively removing remote access to change the necessary settings.  Why hasn't D-Link at least incorporated access to remote settings thru the Android/iOS apps because this would clearly is a needed an necessary workaround?

I don't use any Android HW so I don't know feature support for that platform OS...

You might phone contact D-Link support on the phone and ask them about features and issues for Android OS.

Thanks, I just read the link provided.  Suggest you please remove all abbreviations to make it more clear.

Will assume FW = firmware?
Mfrs = manufacturers?

You are not official D-Link support staff?  Just assumed since this seems to be the legitimate domain for dlink.

We are volunteers helping DLink and here to help out with set up and problems that are posted by users here in the forums. If we can not resolve those issues here or if there are problems with anything beyond our capabilities here in the forums, we ask the users please contact phone D-Link directly for continued help and information. Problems with HW/FW and documentation fall under this reasoning as we do not have the ability to effect any changes. As for D-Link support, if they don't know what customers needs as desires are then it's kind of hard for them to make improvements to there products with out someone helping them out and telling them.  Yes, of course please feel free to post and talk about it here.

Will assume FW = firmware? Yes
Mfrs = manufacturers? Yes

Well lo and behold, without messing with uPnP whatsoever (impossible as the cameras are far away!) I'm able to access them through the web browser (Chrome) once again.  This shows that D-Link is just as good fixing problems as they are creating them.  I dread the next firmware update.

I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support directly if this happens again. With the recent move to the new Universal Plug-in from Java, there may have been some transitional fluctuation in operation during this time frame.

Enjoy.
