DIR-412 Dropping connection - need to re-insert USB modem
« on: January 23, 2012, 07:46:30 AM »

I have a DIR-412 and a FIDO 3G internet stick.

It is setup with "auto" config.

Connected to PC via ethernet port and BB Playbook and BB phone via wireless.

Internet connection establishes OK and works for a while, then drops connection. Cannot reconnect either with "on demand" or when set to "manual" connection modes.

From DIR-412 admin Status page, "Connect" does not reconnect to internet.

Lights are all out on FIDO stick when this happens.

Removing stick and re-inserting into USB port on router will restore the link and allow connection.

Stick works without any problems directly connected to computer USB port with FIDO connect software.

SIM not unlock reported on status screen, but modem connects to internet and works without a problem the first time it is inserted - then no more. It seems the stick looses power - no lights until removed and re-inserted.

I found the 1.12WW firmware on the dlink.au site and uploaded to the router.

sim message is now green and says unlocked

So far so good - I will report back.

No luck - stick drops connection and seems to be un-powered after a while being connected. Removing and re-inserting the stick restores the internet link.

What's the deal with this? It seems to be similar to other threads I have seen here, never with a reply with any explanation or resolution.

Does anybody respond on this forum?

If I change to the CS-18 stick, will I avoid this problem?
