Any reason why the passwords are viewable on the Interfaces menu ?

Because you already have access to the unit if you can see that screen.  I will put in a request to have that information masked.

Thanks.. and yeap I know. However you can also see it in Audit mode.

This doesn't change your request in any way, but my response would be that you have no secrets from an auditor any more than you do from a administrator.  Knowledge of your config is key for any potential security risk.
