How to configure DFL 800
« on: February 16, 2009, 02:42:38 AM »

Hi,
I'm not able to configure DFL 800 from past six months.Following is my scenario. The input is coming from another Dlink switch from another lab (ours is reasearch lab)  , and we use private ip's assigned to each system by the global admin. To configure this kind of setup , what should i select in the following D-Link setup wizard ?

What would you like to setup - Nat with one public ip from the global admin - and use another subnet in your lan,
or Transparent mode (everybody using the ips from the global admin)?

yes, we're using ip's from global admin ( 10 series). I want the following setting in the firewall ... this is very basic i'm expecting.

1) Firewall
2) Internet restrictions to the employees.( time based browsing)

How can i achieve this ?

If you are trying to use this device as a firewall only and not as a router or NAT device then cancel out of that wizard and follow our transparent mode FAQ.

http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2693

If you are performing NAT then chose either DHCP or static based n what your admin makes available to you.

If you just need it to act as a router cancel out of the wizard, manually change your Interface Addresses IP Address Objects, and change all the IP Rules to Allow instead of NAT.

If none of this makes any sense call 1 877 354 6555 and our free Tech Support line will walk you through as much as possible.
