Time management issues
« on: August 10, 2019, 06:56:43 AM »

Hello,

I have hw revision A1, firmware 1.20, region EU.

I have two issues with time management, stopping me in setting correct time on the router:

1. Automatic time configuration NTP does not function when router in AP mode (as set by instructions from DLINK youtube channel). Syslog show repeatedly following messages:

1970-01-01 01:01:54 TIME[11931]: fota_common.c, dns_query, 232:
1970-01-01 01:01:54 TIME[11931]: getaddrinfo fail: Name or service not known, errno=-2
1970-01-01 01:01:54 TIME[11931]: fota_common.c, wait_network_accessible, 266:
1970-01-01 01:01:54 TIME[11931]: Check network fail! Wait 128 seconds and try again.

Seems like it requires WAN  interface to be connected (which is not in AP mode)

2. It is not possible to manualy set time in last firmware, there are no such fields on screen. As new page has URL http://192.168.x.y/Time2.html i can change manualy to Time.html , then i can see old page that can set time manually, but save does not work.

Any way to work around this issue and set correct time?

Link>Welcome!

Yes NTP and time services are tied to the WAN port. It won't work correctly in AP mode.

The time feature is mostly automatic now days. Router mode time should work.
The maybe a drop down menu for Manual settings.

Hi,

Thnx!

Strange for NTP be related to WAN port, while new firmware upgrade check works fine in AP.

I believe Time Management GUI is not related to setting IP address being set in AP mode, but i will double check later today.

NTP services has always been tied to the WAN port on D-Link routers. Weather or not D-Link supports NTP in AP mode...anything is possible.  ::)
