How to setup QoS / bandwidth limit in a DSL-2750
« on: December 11, 2013, 05:17:25 AM »

Hello, could anybody help me? I wish to set a bandwidth limit for the clients connected to DSL-2750.

The configuration interface in DSL-2750 looks totally different from other products, and difficult to guess how to use. The user manual and built-in help are both useless as they mention nothing about the details. They just tell you: QoS can be used to control the network quality. You can setup QoS on this page! But how???

Anybody knows how to setup QoS in a DSL-2750? Many thanks!

You can review this then attempt to apply some of the data to the your modems QoS:
Gaming and QoS for XBL

Review the AllOtherDevices rule as an example.

Thanks! I read that but didn't find "AllOtherDevides", and 2750's interface is totally different from that.

Oops, sorry, look for Single Pc or Device and Multiple PC or Device.

You might be able to use the data from that sticky and see if you can figure out how to input that into the modems QoS.

Ya, I talked to D-Link about this a long time ago and they said that the UI on the modems isn't the most friendly UI.

One thing you might so as a alternative suggestion and would take another purchase, bridge the DSL modem and install a DIR series router. Then you'll have a more friendlier UI...

Thanks a lot! I'll try it.

This is really a disappointing product. D-link claim that this product has QoS function so I bought it. If they hadn't said that, I wouldn't have bought it. There are many many options in the market. Say, TP-Link, cheaper, and much easier to use. I trusted D-Link but they fooled me.

The interface is hard to use, that's OK, but at least they should give some instructions in the user manual. I phoned their customer service but even their support team don't know how to configure QoS either. The guy who answered my call seems have never known that 2750 has QoS function!

In fact I can choose to return my 2750 to the seller. It's still within the non-faulty return period. And then I can get a TP-Link. In fact a TP-Link is even cheaper.

I understand your stand point about this feature, however if it's that important to you, either take the modem back, or bridge this modem and get a DIR series L router that has easier features for users as a alternative suggestion. D-Links L series routers are good and work well with modems in bridge mode. Any then you'll have all the info you need to set up the routers QoS.

What region are you located?

Absolutely true. It is acceptable that interface is hard to use. But a no use manual made that interface unusable. DSL 2750U manual contains nothing useful. Support team doesn't know half of what we know on DSL 2750U.
