DGS-1100-16: Howto utilize Port Jumbo Frame
« on: April 30, 2018, 06:07:04 PM »

Hi,
I want to utilize Port Jumbo frame, however I'm not sure if this will work in my network architecture.

Any uplink from switch to my routers is only supporting MTU 1500, one router has Link Status 100M-Full.

Can I configure Jumbo Frame for inter-client-communication if Link Status is 1000M-Full?
Or will this be an issue when a client needs to access WAN using uplink to the router?

Thanks for your advice.

Yes, you can enable it on the switch to accept and process jumbo frames. Locally it should work but anything outside the WAN is limited to the standard MTU 1500. Larger frames are usually used for local storage, iSCSI to VMware server.
