Access control does not work after update to 1.04B11
« on: January 17, 2014, 09:36:29 PM »

Just updated my DIR-645 to firmware ver 1.04B11 and the access control stoped
working. I used it to block the internet at night on my kids IPADS.
I tried to reset the router and reload the firmware.
Then re-enter all the parameters and do a system reboot with no success.
any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
Was there a problem with the router reason for the upgrade?

Please review this for doing any FW updates:
FW Update Process

To set up scheduling:
1. Reserve device IP addresses ON the router under Setup/Networking.
2. Set up a schedule under Tools/Schedule on the routers web page. Customize your dates and times here.
3. Use Access Control under Advanced to apply the customized schedule to a policy and to the PC(s) desired to be controlled.
4. Ensure Time is set correctly on the router. Tools/Time.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
  • Turn off all devices accept for one wired LAN PC while testing.
  • Disable any downloading client software managers, i.e. Torrents or similar.

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Can you try this to see if you can recover your 645 please?
Emergency Recovery Mode

Please ur IE or FF for this and disable any browser add-ons and any PC 3rd party security programs...I think we might be able to recover the 645...
