you have to remember that the numbers you see is a collected number over a period of time from the last time the 4500 was reset or power cycled. So these numbers will accumulate over time until the next power cycle. It also depends on interference and distance your device is from the router too. So you'll have to check a test and power cycle the router and clear out everything the start reviewing what you see. If you do see a lot of packets being in error or dropped and you know your in good range from the router and there's no other interference then could be something wrong. Just all depends. Just know that you will see drop and errors and that's just the nature of wireless.

It is literally 1 wall away. Approx 20-30 ft at most.

We have 3 routers in the home so maybe there be some interference but I set my DGL4500 to run 2.4/5ghz and the other 2 routers are only b/g.

Mines basically the same way. It's down the hallway from the living room in my office. I see drop and errors. I run mine on N mode only a 2.4Ghz for the best connection.

Sounds like you should just reset your router to factory settings then try and proceed with the update. Also delete whatever file you downloaded for the update and re-download it again here http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DGL-4500&tab=3 and make sure you unzip the file before trying to update.

Yes, do a factory reset to clear everything, update to v1.15, do another factory reset after the update. Then do your configuration. You must extract the .bin file to update the 4500 successfully. Let us know.

Not really sure whats up but I think my DGL4500 randomly rebooted today (and i got that 1.22NA installed).

I will say the 1.22 did reduce the # of errors received on the wireless end tho.

I finally did the upgrade to FW 1.23 !! but now i'm getting lower speeds on my speed tests: with the router on i get only 3 megs download and 470 KB's upload. And directly from the modem i get 6 megs download 515 KB's upload >  i was getting these same results with the router on before the upgrade of the FW.

Any tips on how to fix this ?? Should i down grade ???

Ok all set I'm running 1.23 also and so far so good. When I reloaded my config file the router did hang for 5 mins until I unplugged it but it took the settings so everything worked out.

Melchior,

What wireless channel do you have the router set to?
I have a Wii and it is connected to my DGL-4500 A2 on channel 1.

Read somewhere that the Wii only likes the common channels 1, 6, 11 they are non-overlapping channels.

Yeah sry it took so long to reply... :(

Its set to Auto I think.... been some time since I bothered working on this.... to much of a head ache...
more so in the past 4 months because I was in an accident back on August 7th on my way like usual to the LAn center I work at...

Even on auto it did hit channel one once and a while but wasn't connecting.... :(
