Firewall rule issues with DSR-500AC
« on: November 13, 2018, 07:57:27 AM »

Posting here because the AC model doesn't have its own subforum.

Router model DSR-500AC. Firmware version is 3.12B101H_WW

Internet connection has 5 public IP addresses - the extra 4 are configured under "IP Aliasing"

I'm trying to open up ports for an in-house application but no matter what I try, the firewall doesn't let anything through. Works fine with the old firewall.

I've tested with outbound policy set to allow and block without any difference so it seems the problem lies with inbound rules.

Here's some screenshots from the configuration

The most important rule should allow an inbound connection on ports 444,445 for a software on a server with IP ending with 54.14, and as far as I can tell the configuration looks fine.

Unfortunately I'm not able to just play with the settings in production so at best I get 10-15 minutes every morning to try something new but I've pretty much run out of ideas at this point.

Any suggestions? Hoping someone smarter than me can point me in the right direction.

What region are you located?

I don't have any experiences with the DSR series routers. Posts are limited and few in between from users. For quicker results, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.

We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

I'm in Canada! I'll try phone support because like you pointed out, email or live chat support wasn't exactly helpful.

Just an update. It had nothing to do with the firewall configuration - our ISP needed to clear their ARP cache
