D-Link doesn't seem to be updating their SharePort software so it's good that SIlex is updating their Virtual Link. Forget the D-Link Shareport software if you are running OS X 10.11 or above- get the Silex version instead. I can confirm that it works with 10.11 as I just installed it today and printed a number of things to my USB printer connected to my DIR-655 router. The version you need is here:
http://hub.silexamerica.com/unwired/silex-releases-sx-virtual-link-usb-over-ip-for-macos-sierra
Go to the link marked "download on our website". The other link, "device server setup for mac" is not needed if you are using a D-Link router as far as I could tell- it seems to be only for their products. The Silex version looks almost exactly like the D-Link version so I don't know why D-Link doesn't have this.
Also, the download only worked in Safari, Firefox just showed a bunch of code.

D-Link stopped supporting Shareport a while back I believe. Since some newer generation routers don't support this software and there isn't a need for sharing of a USB connected drive anymore as well using Sharepor. Some of the newer generation routers have sharing of connected drives built with in the routers FW.
Thanks for posting.
Good Luck.
