Network Question
« on: November 22, 2014, 09:18:21 AM »

My Win 7 laptop with wifi enabled, can see my old WBR-1310 router ok.

Can I connect that router to my XP computer so that the two computers can  exchange files when properly configured and using appropriate software?   I  do NOT want an internet connection.

If so, can you please direct me to any help files or youtube videos that might help in setting it all up?

If not, should I use something other than a router?

I'll appreciate any wisdom, and thanks very much.

Welcome!

Is the WBR our main host router with an active internet connection to your ISP modem?

If it is, then regardless of what you connect to the WBR, a device will get internet. Now if the WBR does not have a Internet connection to a ISP modem, then you can use it as a network switch alone and connect devices to it and map drive to shared out folders on each PC. You'll need to refer to Microsoft support and information on how to share out folders on PCs and use Map Drive to connect to them.
