I've searched and looked for other people with similar problems and the usual answer is "wireless will always be a bit slower". But my connection really isn't normal.

The first day (2 days ago) I setup the router I was getting about 4-5 Mbps download speeds, and .90 Mbps upload speeds. It was alright, not what I'm used to, but it worked. Since then the wireless connection is very jumpy and lately it's been sluggishly slow. If I run a connection speed test it now says I have a download speed of .52 Mbps and an upload of .49 Mbps. Now if I connect my laptop directly to the router's first ethernet port I get my old results of 4-5 Mbps download speeds.

So in summary:
Wireless- Download .52 Mbps, Upload .49 Mbps, Ping 200-500 ms
Ethernet- Download 4-5 Mbps, Upload .90 Mbps, Ping 18-40 ms

Any idea of what is going on? Is there anything I can mess with to fix this issue, I am fairly savy at computers and networking but this is really stumping me!

Try changing from mixed all wireless mode to single mode G to test then try Mixed G and N if you have N supporting devices.

Any other WiFi routers in the area?
