« on: June 17, 2011, 03:04:56 AM »

HI
I'm a total router illiterate..I ordered this router from walmart...My questions are before I even open it up when i receive it are..Will it be a huge pain to hook my vonage modem up and not have problems with calls?...I really got it also so that i can use a wifi device like nook to access their store...Also i was thinking of getting a roku player from netflix for my little 22 inch hdtv...will that work ok...Remember i'm 65 and a little slow :-[

I would ask Vonage if there modem works with this router. I haven't seen many people with problems with Vonage however I have seen some issues with other IP phone providers. I would ask them if they have any information on external routers.

Well I am 70 and jump over the candle stick ;-) I have my home Vonage device connected to a router downstream. Today I connected my neighbor's Vonage device with her new DIR-601. The connection for your DIR-601 is well documented. I suggest you use the web interface to setup your DIR-601. I find the CD setup does not handle all the complexity of networks. If you get stuck, and you may, ask FurryNutz for help. The D-Link and Vonage telephone support folks will be helpful if you need handholding. Don't be afraid, jump in.

Roku rocks. I never look at TV programming anymore. It's IP baby.
