Why Does Stealth Mode Testing Fail?
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:19:46 PM »

I replaced my Linksys BEFSR41 router with this new D-Link 601 router and noticed that when I run a stealth ports test using the free GRC ShieldsUp! tool (https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2) I no longer get a full stealth report for all ports like I used to get with my Linksys.  Now with this new router, port 0 and port 1 report as closed.  In other words, my router is no longer completely stealth because of just these two ports.

Why is this?  This is very disappointing in an otherwise great router.  The Linksys router is very old and still does a better job of remaining completely stealth.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
