Auto Pan function
« on: October 20, 2015, 07:50:27 PM »

Dear all,

I had purchased two DCS-5222L H/W B2 to add to my collection of DCS-932L/933L and NVR-322Ls, hoping to use Auto Pan function. I have tried to set Auto Pan to go through Preset sequence, but it only worked once then stop. Had been looked in forums and elsewhere but not quite sure how to get Auto Pan to cycle through Present sequence continuously without manual intervention. Could anyone with a success story share you tips to get Auto Pan to work as such?

Many thanks.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Is there any info in the User Manual regarding Auto Pan?

Hi,

The software version is 2.11.01. The Auto Pan is showed in Setup > PTZ Setup. The manual (ver.2.1 - 05/26/2014 - p.37-38) indicates this e.g., setting Presets, setting Present Sequence, and Auto Pan. But In Live Video, when I clicked on the Present Sequence button to activate Auto Pan, it worked only once.

How could I set it to cycle the Preset Sequence, i.e. Panning back and forth until manually de-activating Auto Pan?

Thanks.

Hi -- as far as I can tell, Auto Pan and Preset Sequence do two different things.  Auto Pan just pans the camera back and forth until you click the stop button.  The Preset Sequence button runs the camera though the sequence of preset points that you have set up and added to the sequence.

It's not clear to me that Preset Sequence is supposed to run continuously until you stop it.  I think only Auto Pan does that.  Out of curiosity, if you click the Auto Pan button, does it the camera go back and forth until you stop it, or does it just do that only once?  If it does it only once, then something may be wrong.  If it does it continuously, then it may be that only the Auto Pan is supposed to work that way.  (I agree it would make sense for Preset Sequence to work continuously too, but I do not see clear indication that it is designed to do that.)

Hi,

Thanks cmontyburns for reply. Been out for a while. The Auto Pan button, when clicked, just panned from the default Home position to one end (counter-clockwise), then panned clockwise to the other end (in nearly 360 degree), then panned counter-clockwise back to the default  Home position, and  stopped there. So, it seems to function in Auto Pan once. I would expect it to pan back and forth continuously.

Any suggestions to force to do just I wish?

Many thanks again.

Good day,

I am experiencing the same problem with my DCS522LB1 ,I wonder if you've come up with a solution for the Auto patrol function.

Best regards

Hi darkodomain,

No lucks so far. I just use it as a non-PTZ IP camera cause these DSC-5222L ver.B2 has much wider AOV compared to all of my DSC-932L's. I wish the future firmware will make it possible.

Cheers,

You should check out the 960l and 2630l, 180 degrees plus image correction to remove fish eye.

Hi there,

Thanks RYAT3 for suggestion. I looked at these IPcams, but they aren't available in my country yet; will definitely replace some 932L with one of these models.

Cheers,

IP Camera Name: DCS-5222L-B1
Brand: D-Link
Firmware version: 2.13.01
Hardware version: B
MCU version: 20140207
Agent version: 2.0.20-b31
Nipca version: 1.9.5

The below mentioned is based on Network IP Camera Application Programming Interface(NIPCA-API). More CGI commands applicable on DCS-5222L are available in this document: NIPCA 1.9.1 tv-ip612xx_cgi-10.pdf. Just search for the file name.

Syntax:
http://cameraIPaddress:Port/CGI-URL?parameter=value

/common/info.cgi

/config/auto_patrol.cgi?act=go
Patrol only a single time between PTZ presets.
It seems that the camera has no permanent auto patrol (auto pan) function implemented. A script or a schedule starting this command periodically could be a resolution.

/config/auto_pan.cgi?act=go
Pan only a single time.

/config/ptz_info.cgi
/config/ptz_preset_list.cgi

/config/wlansignal.cgi
/config/wlansurvey.cgi
