FTP image every 30min (1800s) does not work?
« on: November 24, 2015, 07:47:15 AM »

Hi

I bought the DCS-5020L yesterday, and have it set up to FTP a still image every 1800 seconds, with timestamped images. It seems like the camera is ignoring the 1800 seconds, and using 300 seconds (5 minutes) instead.

This are the latest 10 images: http://superelectric.net/viktun/kamera/kamera.php
All images today: http://superelectric.net/viktun/kamera/20151124/

These are the settings:

Camera firmware is 1.12.

Am I doing something wrong? All help is appreciated!

Well, one person sent me private messages and insisted that this was due to some timeouts on the receiving FTP server. I find it extremely unlikely that timeouts on the server would cause the camera to send pictures more often (every 5 minutes instead of every 30 minutes), so I had to say "thanks for the effort" but not waste more time on it.

So: The status is that the camera still FTPs pictures every 5 minutes (300 seconds), even though the settings specify 30 minutes (1800 seconds).

Btw: The URL is now http://superelectric.net/viktun/kamera/

Can you get anything over 300 seconds to work?

There is probably a max limit.

You could always try 200 and 100 to see if it is even accepting the change or still stuck at 300 (which would really indicate a bug).

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Nope, I have not tried other settings above 300 seconds, but every 60 seconds worked.

I have sent D-Link Support a message (CSP15114515) 1-2 weeks ago, but they send from an email address that can't be replied to: "This e-mail message was sent from a notification-only address that cannot accept incoming e-mail".

I did try to register on the online support portal, or whatever it was called, to reply there, but my I never received the email with my password (I tried several times, and use searched in Spam on Gmail, etc). So, unless someone from D-Link support reads this post, it will never be solved.

I am not going to waste more time by calling them too. I will just use the 300 seconds, and see if D-Link bothers to fix the bug at some point. That would be a nice, big surprise.

Thanks. I recommend that D-Link sends their customers email from an address that the customers can reply to.
