D-Link How About A Firmware Update?
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:00:57 PM »

I see that the D-Link people are starting to post in other forums so I will pose this question to them.  Mr. D-Link are we going to see any firmware upgrades for the DNS-323 or do we have a EOL product?  We have been waiting a very long time and all you have to do is answer the simple question so we as owners can decide what to do with our products.

Thanks,

Terry

Well, I found the following regarding FW 1.10 here:

1. Replace unpnp av server which is DLNA v1.5 certified
2. No password is needed under Vista/Win7 in Open Mode.
3. Extend the accessible file and folder of FTP server from 2000 to 10,000.
4. Bonjour is built-in.
5. Start to rebuild automatically in Normal to Raid1 migration even "Auto Rebuild" is not being set by user.

Here are a couple things from the change log. The full list of changes is not prepared at this time.

I hope D-Link will include (Wishlist):
  - up to 3TB support and Advanced Format drives.
  - Better bit torrent software (ie transmission or utorrent)
  - TimeMachine support since Bonjour will be included.
  - release APKG manual so we can start APKG development ( if already released please let me know where).

I know there is funplug available but I would prefer to use the box with standard d-link firmware.

Thanks

Yes there is a firmware update coming out soon. As to Terry's post, I removed your other one in the DNS-321 forum as I don't see a need for a double post.

3TB and AFT drives should be supported on release of 1.10 (I am expecting beta next week). I have no plans to replace the torrent software. There are obviously other ways out there already to load transmission or other torrent clients. I can not guarantee Time Machine support due to the lack of flash space in this device as it is. Regarding APKG SDK, I expect to have formally released documentation Aug/Sept time-frame. Unfortunately its not top on the priority list so it gets pushed back when resources are tight.

As long as 4K support is in 1.10 I am happy!   ;)  Just want my WD20EARS drives to work.

I have said it to my friends and I will say it again.

THANK YOU DLINK!

most manufacturers will abandon support for a product in the first year or two of its life. Dlink has continued to support the DNS-323 beyond my expectations.

I applaud you, and you have made a d-link supporter out of me.

I hope this update increases my hdd speed. I only get 2 megs a second :( If not, I am willing to change to compatible hard drives for this nice piece of NAS

Thank you :). Regarding your speed. Are you using AFT drives? That is pretty low throughput.

Yay, new beta firmware coming :) .

I'm a bit of fan of Beta softwares / firmwares, because in most cases the software works already fine with all features I need and I can't remember of any real trouble I had.

I can't wait for the DL link.

I have two MAXTOR STM31000340AS. They are not on the compatibility list and they are not AFT drives. I will probably end up just getting new drives if I have to.

It should be available around the same time as US release.

Hi, I'm not using many features of the device right now and my only problem is the fan not turning off properly when it is not needed. I've seen some people say to set it to manual and then back to auto, but it seems that as soon as it need to start the fan once, it won't stop again.

Will this be fixed in 1.10 ?

Don't forget SMART!!!!!!!! it's very important!!!

Is DLINK about to include SMART in this release (in flash area, not as add-on in disk)?
